The New Red Lion theatre in London is a tiny, friendly venue and that's why I wholeheartedly suggest you buy your tickets fast for this wonderful-sounding play called Deirdre Barlow and Me.
Susan White is 35, of average height and build, and with average looks. But there is something far from average about Susan. For Susan is best friends with Deirdre Barlow, in fact she is the No. 1 super fan of the TV soap star from Coronation Street. From liaisons with Mike Baldwin, ongoing problems with the Platts and the campaign to free the Weatherfield One, Susan has mentally catalogued all the intimate details of the former Mrs. Rashid.
Deidre & Me is written and performed by Rachael Halliwell, whose theatre credits include Cordelia in King Lear (Brockley Jack Studio Theatre), Hasty Decisions (The Cock Tavern Theatre) and Golden Lads and Lasses Must (Blue Elephant Theatre). Deidre & Me is her first play. Louisa FitzGerald (Deidre & Me, Old Red Lion and Etcerera Theatres) directs.
Tickets: £8 – available from the box office on 0844 4771 000 or from Ticketweb. Runs from Nov 16-18 at 9pm.
