Coronation Street Episode Review Monday 6th June

coronation street toyah battersby

Someone has remembered that Imran has a mum and the thrice bereaved Saira turns up, only to find out that she is now a granny. She requests that Imran has an Islamic funeral and Toyah agrees, probably so that she doesn't have to organise it (she later reneges). Not wanting to waste her trip to the cobbles, Saira has a go at Zeedan, whose fault it really isn't that Rana died. Good job Kate isn't here for her to vent her fury on also (actually, you can finish reading that sentence after "here"). Toyah is arrested and shown CCTV footage of the crash, and social services turn up to take Alfie into emergency foster care. Not a great week for our Toyah, is it. She ups sticks and goes off to the mysterious Battersby cousin, Kirsty's. I wonder if she'll come back with a tan?

AADI - SUMMER - CORONATION STREET - ITV

The good thing about last week's misery fest (apart from Rita didn't sing the national anthem in the Rovers) was a break in the other misery fest of Summer's life. But we're back with it tonight as Summer mulls over whether to take her final exam as part of her appeal. It seems unlikely that if a school had a star pupil with additional needs like Summer that they would not be more accommodating re: special circumstances. I mean they let Todd, who, lest we forget, was also off to Oxford, slip through their fingers. Anyway, we know Summer's going to either a) go to Manchester Uni or b) work in packing. Aadi pops 'round with some revision cards, which will become relevant later in the week. And Mary lets slip that Todd is planning an end of exams party, to which Summer has her usual strop.

(As an aside, I'm thinking of starting a petition to oust Mrs Crawshaw, what with the upskirting, the drink spiking, accidentally employing an ex-sex worker, letting a teacher on work experience pretty much run the school (did that trip to Edinburgh ever happen?), not to mention the sexual harassment of said work experience teacher).

FRANK - SEAN - EILEEN - GEORGE - CORONATION STREET - ITV

I realise that I'm in a minority of one here, but I like Sean. I know! I do! He is excited about his date with Frank, but fails to tell Eileen or George that Frank is a bit older than him. Given that both Marcus and Billy dumped him, Todd refused his advances and I doubt he can pull any hot twinks down Canal St any more, Frank seems like a good bet for Mr Tully. I mean, Frank did used to be a hunk. Anyway, as Eileen thinks any boyfriend of Sean would be all designer jeans and haircuts, she confuses Frank with a Nottingham Knocker (nothing to do with Naughty Nicki). Worse is to come though when George does recognise Frank - as a bully from his school.

Meanwhile, Cathy believes that the Kabin - and she and Brian - are crying out for a zhuzh. They could get rid of those CDs that have been there since 1998 for a start. Maybe install a coffee machine? Some better biscuits? I do hope that when Cathy leaves Brian doesn't go with her. Brian is very under-used and Peter Gunn has great comic timing - I'd like for him to get a new storyline (and a new love interest).

DAISY - JENNY - LEO - ITV - CORONATION STREET

Leo is still unemployed as there are "literally no jobs out there". Hmm, I guess the whole staff shortages in every industry hasn't hit Weatherfield yet (has he considered a job in packing?) He does have a hobby though, brewing craft beer in the cellar. Jenny offers to sell his beer (Dwight Eisensour) in the pub - although I don't think Newton & Ridley will be too pleased about being undercut by an amateur, plus Leo hasn't got a food hygiene certificate or public liability insurance.

MAX - SONYA - ITV - CORONATION STREET

And finally, Max offers to give a fellow (female) pupil his media studies homework. That's what the kids are calling it nowadays.

[Apols no review next week as I'm on my hols].

Exactly whose cousin is this Kirsty? Leanne and Toyah aren't blood relatives. They are stepsisters. Leanne's dad is Les Battersby and Toyah's mum is Janice Battersby.

Leanne had no right telling off the social worker,Alfie is not Toyah's son,he is Abi's and hopefully soon he'll be back with his mum!

Alarm bells started ringing when George said Frank used to get angry. I hope we're not getting a domestic violence storyline between Frank and Sean

Totally fed up of Summer droning on about exams and Oxford.
Another Max story developing.
Give some of the older cast members more stories please.

The moment where Summer seemingly didn't understand Mary's reference to the time she built the robot was particularly amusing in light of the fact that it happened to an entirely different version of Summer!

Thats why i dont bother, getting like hollyoaks. Also see the rovers still gets by with a couple of customers. They do realise restriction's are over!

Odd that we're seeing Imran's mom NOW, but not for the wedding?
