It will be very interesting to see how the storyline with Freda and Aled turns out.

As a deaf person, I can completely related to Freda because like her, a lot of deaf people harbour resentment towards their parents for taking the easy way out. By learning sign language, everyone is included. Having a cochlear implant is not a cure, battery dies, it is not waterproof, and sometimes deaf people get sensory overload and need to take them off. How would they communicate?

By saying it would be easier to fit in with the society is just like telling a woman to become a man so they can fit in within the patriarchy society. Life is not suppose to be easy.

So, it would be very interesting to see whether Corrie will portray Freda as a villian or hero. Good on Corrie, finally bringing this story to forefront.

I am so happy that Corrie has finally done something different with this Gemma, Freda, Aled storyline. It's nice to see some representation on someone who is either deaf or blind (Freya is not a main character...yet) and I have been enjoying it. Unlike all the explosions, or EXPLOSIVE RETURN/ENDING/STORYLINE this feels so real and true to real life.

I'm sorry but I think Freda is a villain in her upcoming storyline with Aled.
It is Chesney's and Gemma's decision to decide what is best for Aled not Freda as they are his parents,so if they feel that a cochlear implant will help him hear and speak,Freda as a friend should at least try to understand instead of imposing her own views and even kidnapping when she refuses to return Aled to his mother.

I agree with the kidnapping part, but I feel that is what needed to create drama. Freda could have approached in a different way, making sure that the parents are aware of how much benefits if they continue learning sign language while Aled having his cochlear implant in place. They have the best of both world by having two options rather than just relying on one.
