Coronation Street Icons
This new four part series narrated by Sally Lindsay looks back at some of the iconic characters who have walked the cobbles over the years.
We’ll celebrate some of the longest serving much loved cast members and chart their character’s journey and find out what the actors themselves think of their time on the street.
The four iconic characters are Ken Barlow (played by William Roache), Sally Metcalfe (played by Sally Dynevor), Liz McDonald (played by Beverley Callard) and Roy Cropper (played by David Neilson).
The episodes will contain archive footage and new talking heads by cast members past and present.
Episode 2: Coronation Street Icons: Sally Metcalfe to be shown on Wednesday 26 August 2020.
Coronation Street Icons: Sally Metcalfe celebrates the best moments from Sally Dynevor’s incredible 34-year career on Coronation Street, with the help of classic clips from the archives and interviews with co-stars.
This is a celebration of all sides of Sally’s character, including the drama, the comedy and the gloriously snobby. From her first appearance as Kevin Webster’s new girlfriend and settling in as a regular street resident to becoming the icon that she is now. Everything from the way she embraced Rosie’s bid for superstardom to her time campaigning to become local councillor, Sally and her co-stars reveal what they love most about upwardly mobile Sally.
In the programme Sally Dynevor reveals how, when growing up, her and her family were fans of Coronation Street and how it was always her dream to be on ‘Corrie’.
