Geoff’s first wife Elaine, played by the wonderful Paula Wilcox, speaks to Sally and says she’ll give evidence against Geoff in court. But then there’s no reply from Elaine’s phone and she disappears, just as Geoff returns home with a phone in his hands. He removes the memory card and drops it down the drain. Has he done away with Elaine? Perhaps I could forgive him for that. But for getting rid of Paula Wilcox? Never!  Before Elaine disappears he’s overheard on the cobbles arguing with her by his granddaughter Faye. Worried about Elaine, Alya calls the cops who speak to Geoff about her disappearance. But Geoff lies to the cops and says he didn’t argue with her, and his lie is caught out by Faye who listens in on the stairs at Speed Daal. So, Faye knows her grandad’s a liar. But Tim’s taking more persuasion from Sally to come to terms with the fact that his dad is a nasty piece of work. Tim’s starting to tumble though, you can tell, as he struggles to get to grips with what his dad might have kept from him, that his real mum was alive and well of his life and not dead as Geoff had told him.

At the Rovers, Jenny continues to serve takeaways from the bar while talking to Rita on the phone, reminding us that the over 70s on the cast aren’t back at work yet. At Roy’s Rolls, they’re also offering take away only, as are Speed Daal although Alya refuses to let Geoff inside and stands guard at the door with a broom in her hand.

Over at Weatherfield General in the Kate Oates ward, Gary releases himself from hospital. He heads back to the flat and packs his bag, ready to do a runner but changes his mind. This is another story that’s well past its sell-by date and you’re a better fan than I if you can even remember what’s going on. Suffice to say is that this storyline serves to remind us that Maria has the IQ of a crayon. Gary has a change of heart and tells the factory girls that he’s not putting the rent up after all.

There’s a new look Craig on the street this week when actor Colson Smith appeared on screen slimmed down and looking very well indeed after taking up running during lockdown. Good one, Colson you’re an inspiration.

And that’s just about that for this week.
