Hello and welcome to the second part of Friday's episode. I did think that when the Covid episodes started broadcasting, the writers would do half an hour, self-enclosed eps, but I guess not.
Maria is still hair spraying and Gary/Sarah/David are still arguing. Has anyone noticed that Gary's wedding tie matches his flat decor? Anyway, David quizzes Gazza on his intentions: "You're meant to be marrying me mate and you're playing tonsil tennis with me sister!" No snogging during a pandemic! In the newly refurbed Bistro (which looks horrible), Maria waits for Gary and bemoans her Corona-wedding "It's not the same with Liam and Jake," she says. Or Anna, Eddie, Eric and Dot (Mrs and Mrs Sutherland). It's not the same without a "you may kiss the bride" either.
Shona gives a bit of sisterly advice to Sarah, which mostly involves getting Adam into a compromising situation "and refuse to take no for an answer". I think that's abuse, Shona (I also think there's a writerly attempt to get Adam to say "murrrrder" at least once an episode). They talk it over, but Adam is adamant (geddit) that the marriage is over and he can't play second fiddle to "a scumbag like Gary". Sarah watches in tears as Maria and Gary leave for their honeymoon,
In other marriage guidance news, Tim and Sally decide to leave the Street to escape the sitch and to stay with Gina for a bit. Are they in a support bubble? "We were so happy," complains Sally. Were they? As I remember she was mightily peeved about Tim's accidental bigamy and refusing to talk to him.
Bernie tells Gemma that she sent Vanessa off with a flea in her ear. And a tick and a mite. Maybe a mosquito too. They meet up anyway, and Vanessa apologises and also says she'll get hold of some PJ & Duncan memorabilia (tat) for Gemma to give to Paul for his bday. Gemma says she's going to set up an online mums and baby group. Bernie is worried it's too much for her. I don't suppose she's got much else to do.
Gemma's hopefully new bezzie, Abi phones social services to try to arrange to see the twins before they go off to quarantine in Australia.
And in the comedy storyline, Mary asks Sean if he likes a bashed aubergine. No, he doesn't. They arrange a night on the sofa together and Mary tells Sean that if she were a man, she'd marry him. Cute.

I have no sympathy for Sarah,her lies and manipulations destroyed her first marriage to Jason and she did it again with Adam.
Gary never loved Sarah[he only loves himself],he only said that so she would do his dirty work by getting rid of evidence [Rick's watch]so he can get away with murder.
I hope Adam does not get back with Sarah.
Why were there no staff in the Bistro? Who owns the Bistro now anyway? Is it still that Sleazy Ray? What happened to the blackmailing Kevin and Abi story?
Yeah I think sleazy Ray has disappeared off the face of the earth. I thought he was going to be the next baddie, but we haven't seen him for ages now.
I'm sorry but Gary and Maria's wedding was dire. Zero effort put into the wedding, just like zero effort has been put into the couple.
Boring and predictable episode.

I suppose they did the wedding okay in the circumstances, but the storyline is still rubbish. Like a lot of people, I find Sarah and Adam impossible to believe in as a couple.
The comments on this and other posts asking where this or that person is, isn't it obvious?! We're in the middle of a pandemic and the cast needs to be kept to a minimum. Although some of the storylines have been a bit naff, I think they have still done well to keep producing the show in these difficult circumstances.
There was no reason little Liam couldn't be at the wedding. He's her son!
Yes there is! The children can't be used in the filming at the moment, the same as the over 70's
Just when you thought a Corrie wedding couldn’t get anymore lacklustre than Adam and Sarah’s, this one comes along…
I know times are tough and Corrie has done well to adapt to a new normal, but you have to ask yourself; if the bride and groom have to stand two metres apart, if only a handful of guests can attend… is a socially distanced wedding really worth doing?
I’d argue no, it’s not.
Watching Maria and Gary get spliced last night was some of the cringiest television I’ve ever watched. It was never going to deliver on romance but it at least should have been entertaining - it was up there with watching paint dry! I’ve known funerals with more of an atmosphere!
In my opinion, the wedding should have been done off-screen or they simply shouldn’t have got married at all.
The wedding itself was in no way memorable, then again, you could say that about Maria and Gary’s entire relationship. What makes it worse is that we know the marriage isn’t going to last.
Speaking of doomed marriages, Sarah and Adam have decided to call it quits (can’t say I’ll be shedding any tears over it).
The highlight of the episode was Mary’s deadpan delivery of ‘If I was a man I’d marry you’ to Sean.
On the whole, I’m getting bored with the show. It’s time to wrap these storylines up and start some new ones. Enough of Geoff, Gary and Gemma – focus on some other characters for a change!
A character in urgent need of attention is Carla. I don’t think any character has had a bigger fall from grace than Carla Connor has since returning to the show. She went from being a strong, feisty businesswoman to literally having nothing. She has no factory, no luxury flat, her reputation's in tatters, she can’t even indulge in a cheeky glass of red anymore! All the things that made Carla great have been stripped away. Now all she does is hover in the background with a face like a slapped backside, dressed like she's going to a funeral. It’s sad to see such a great character be diminished in this way.
I really hope the writers can redeem Carla by giving her a much-needed sense of direction and purpose again, because for such a hugely popular character she has drifted for far too long.
For someone who had lost her memory Shona seemed mightily clued in to the Gary, Sarah, Adam triangle.
Have to agree with everything you said about Carla. Hate what they’ve done to her. They took a strong character and ground her down to the point where she’s now a shadow of her former self. As a female viewer, I was drawn to Carla because of her strength and resilience. It was refreshing to see a woman in a position of power who wasn't afraid to speak her mind and didn’t care what people thought about her. A fundamentally flawed character with a secret heart of gold. It’s these qualities that made her great, and it’s precisely these qualities the show has stripped away by constantly heaping misery onto her and turning her into a victim. Her breakdown was the final straw for me. I’ll always have a soft spot for Carla, but she's not the character she used to be.
So much to agree with, including Adam saying Murrrder as a highlight. And with Jan here about Shona, as I was scratching my head when she wandered into the Platt's for no apparent reason and ranted on about Sarah's daft love life. Then she just walked out the door. Weird.
I must be a real fan, because I'm still happy the show is on during the ongoing pandemic.
