Coronation Street episode review, Weds 6 June 2018, 8.30pm

With Roy turning into Poirot meets James Bond, the first episode made me smile and laugh out loud. So, onto the second half.

We begin with Roy realising that Nigel Havers has returned as the charmer and schemer, Lewis. They have a brilliant scene whereby Lewis is tripped up by the cafe owner and Rosemary realises her voices have stopped. Lewis is the man behind the voices from the other side.

Gary visits Streetcars to catch a cuddle with his baby. He wants contact and kisses baby Phelan and hands the little bundle of joy back to Steve.

Rosemary's fakery is foiled and Gail and Audrey face the shocking truth that Lewis is behind it all. Roy has him pinned down and waits for the police. Audrey says: "You can't sit on him for half an hour Roy." And she has a point.

Shona tells Eileen she looks pale. And once Liz mentions she has just been to identify Phelan's body, the humour still flows. Eileen seems to be having doubts about remaining in Weatherfield. It is written all over her face.

Kirk' s admirer is thrilled that he acts as her personal shopper. She seems sweet as candy but what does she want? Our Kirky or does she have a back story? Sharon seems to have money, as she buys Kirk a designer shirt for his time. What will Beth say?

Liz and Eileen pick up baby Zack and ask Steve how he is been. Not being the best liar, he leaves the two of them smelling a rat. Meanwhile Lewis apologises for leaving the way that he did. He turns on the charm again. Is she going go fall for it?

Roy carries on being the cafe's new action hero and corners Rosemary. With his former partner, Cathy in tow, they damn her and Roy says he will hand her over to the police.

Lewis fills Audrey in on his movements, and what led him to the latest scam. He claims to have had a conscience and that he went for Audrey's family because he felt for her. He declares his undying love for her and that he only hurt Gail because she broke the couple up. He then explains how he got the information for Rosemary to spin heatwarming tales for the grieving relatives thst laid to see her.

Audrey seems to be half and half. She feels loyal to her daughter. But she is under Lewis's spell. Gail comes outside and realises that Lewis has gone. Audrey let him go.

Beth sees Kirk's new shirt and smells a rat and questions him on the price. Ty calls round knowing that Kirk did not pay for the shirt, so he makes up a take about the fact he was with him and that the shirt was in the sale. But the truth will out.

Roy calls the police and wants Lewis framed. But he does not get very far, and all the while Audrey is quite quiet, as she still has feelings for him.

Craig, Rosie and Gemma are called by This Morning to chat to Phil and Holly about their crime busting activities. I hope this is filmed for real, as I would love to see it.

Gail beings Audrey to the Rovers to have a drink. Gail apologies for even thinking that Audrey was talked into letting Lewis go. And laughs it off and Gail goes to the bar. Then a text appears from Lewis saying that he loves her and she melts again. Guliable daughter for falling for the scam and guliable mother as she is about to fall for another.

A great episode, as it did remind me of Corrie of old. Funny, fast laced and a great deal going on but character led.

Oh Audrey, you silly, gullible woman :-)

Yes, I really enjoyed last night's episodes. Nothing dramatic or really nasty going on just a focus on relationships and friendships.
I like Kirk's new friend, she seems really sweet, much nicer than Beth.

Glad this was not dragged out. Sometimes this is the best way to go. Loved seeing Lewis back....love him to bits!

The scene with Steve holding the baby was so beautiful.

Hard to believe the comedy storyline last night is a follow on from a woman finding out her son had been raped.

“Metcalf residence ... Sally the Mayor speaking.” I snorted my Assam, I have to confess. Isn’t that the BEST phone answering phrase ever? (And as for the word spelled out by the flowers on the roundabout, brought to light only by the lads with the drone ...) Chris Fewtrell at his shining best!
