According to The Daily Star (via DigitalSpy) Gary Windass is heading for another bout of paranoia in an upcoming storyline, this time involving his girlfriend Izzy Armstrong.
It all happens after Izzy is mugged at a cash machine where her wheelchair is also damaged. Things go from bad to worse for poor Izzy when Gary refuses to let her leave the house as he begins to believe that someone is targeting her and wants to kill her.
After what we saw last week involving Gary and Izzy it appears that the storyline has already begun to bubble away and I think if done properly could be a good storyline.
Of course, recently there has been an over reliance on big stunts so perhaps Izzy's mugging may well prove to follow this trend but I hope not because Gary's storyline since coming back from Afghanistan has been brilliantly handled and I'm pleased it's being revisited.

A hostage storyline?
Brilliant. Can't wait. Bravo writers.
i'm still convinced Gary's gonna do a Hungerford and wipe out some pesky characters that the producers want rid of.
go check out my 'Great Coronation Street Massacre' post to see how this would unfold!
It is a shame that the show has resorted to sensationalist stunts so often, as stories like this one - which has been simmering away for some time now - tend to lose impact as a result.
Gary has been building up to this for a long time now. They've been sowing seeds for months, very slowly and carefully - an overreaction here and an angry outburst there all indicating that despite appearances Gary is still struggling.
I'm glad this is being revisited, this one doesn't sound too sensationalist, Gary's got a lot of psychological issues, so good to see them referenced
Hope this does not mean the departure of sexy Mikey North.
As long as it's treated with respect to his military service, and not a simple plot device that's cured with one magic prescription a la David's epilepsy, okay.
Big Jim took hostages in his Bank raid, Stape took the Hoyles and Ches hostage only last week, now we have yet another hostage situation. Is this Beriut or Manchester?
This should be a good storyline as long as they don't take it too far where Gary might end up in prison again!!! He is one of my favourite characters.
Tony Gordon took Carla and Hayley hostage last Summer....
I agree, too many hostage storylines. And more violence, if Izzy is mugged :(
I hope Gary doesnt end up in the slammer. He oozes manliness I just love to watch him- Micky
Yet more sensationalist violence and over-the-top storylines, all of which is bad news for t'Street. :(
And does this mean yet another character will end up in prison? Yawn.
Gary Windass can hold me hostage any day!!!
I think this could be a good idea. I'm thinking more like the Shelley and Charlie story than John Stape and Chesney.
Hello Seanie, haven't seen you on here in ages, hope you're well.
I agree, sounds more like Shelley & Charlie.
Yawn! Tony took hostages, Jim took hostages, John took hostages and now Gary. Phil Collinson seems to have an obsession with sensationalism and Corrie is certainly becoming more repetitive in terms of the storylines which are being used.
Hi Dilly Daydream, I'm very well thanks :)
I honestly think this could be a great story line, but it should be more of a physiological torment that physical violence, although I can't see this happening.
Cornation Street's writing is getting ridiculous and I stopped watching months ago- last night saw the mugging episode then looked it up. I feel nothing for any of the characters and when they had the big tram crash I really didn't care.
However as one of my goal is to stop watching TV the writers are helping me a lot. Thanks!!
