Corrie couples, Love is in the air again

Last time I put couples Tracy and Steve and Carla and Peter under the microscope. Today we’ll be focussing on the Platts. Enjoy.

Nick and Leanne

They say first love never dies and it’s certainly the case for these childhood sweethearts because no matter how many times they break up and move on with someone new, they always end up back together again. Seriously, how many weddings have they had now? I’ve lost count.

Having said that, they do make a good team when they’re getting along and they’ve got a good thing going with Simon and little Oliver (although from recent spoilers, that looks like it’s all about to change). Let’s hope whatever challenges they’ve got coming their way, they face them as a united front for a change.

David and Shona

Nothing will ever top David and Kylie, but David and Shona come pretty close. Shona had big boots to fill but she’s managed to hold her own and I’m liking the dysfunctional but loving family she’s built with David, Max and Lily.

But no couple is allowed to stay happy for long, so the other week David bunked up with new girl, Alina. This left a really bitter taste in my mouth. I know David’s hurting, and yes, technically Shona did ask for a divorce, but come on, his immediate response was to bunk up with someone he’s known all of five minutes? Really Corrie? Is that the best you could come up with? *Sighs*

Sarah and Adam

These two sure look good together, but that’s about it. It’s been a whirlwind romance that’s moved way too quickly and doesn’t feel earned. There’s no depth to them. I really couldn’t care less whether they stay together or not because the show hasn’t given me reason to. Perhaps if the show invested in them, I would too.

Join me next time for more Corrie couples under the microscope.

If the blog is entitled Corrie couples, then why wasn't Tyrone and Fiz,Johnny and Jenny or even Brian and Cathy included?
These couples are better examples of love as they went through tense times and still remained together in the end.
I bet one year from now,the Platt couples featured will have broken up while the couples I mentioned will still be going strong.

Nick's head has changed so I forget that they are childhood sweethearts. Might offer light relief if they referenced their teenage past eg: Ivy, Brian and Janice.

I agree with you Corriefan21, about Sarah and Adam. I have never been able to explain why, but to me David and Shona don't make a good couple. It's not the Clayton thing, they don't seem properly matched.

It’s a weekly post. Be patient. I’m sure the couples mentioned will crop up.
