Corrie Location Manager chats lockdown with Coronation Street Blog

A very special guest blog post from Naomi, Location Manager at Coronation Street

Good Morning Corrie Peeps - I’m Naomi one of four Location Managers on Corrie

Day 27 of self isolation for me and my daughter.  We started a bit earlier than most as I am HIV+ , and although my CD4 count meets the criteria for being fully functioning, I have other health conditions that warrant extreme caution.  So here we are ...

I am an introvert at heart so in truth I’M LOVING IT (obviously just the being at home bit, not the horror that is Covid19 and the deaths, and all the people who are struggling).

I’ve reconnected with old friends, made new friends through Twitter and Facebook, nurtured relationships with family members and started to try and raise awareness about HIV and the fact that Undetectable equals Untransmittable. Did you know that only 17% of the general population are aware of this crucial fact in the fight against HIV? I’m even starting to plan a fundraiser for when things go back to a new ‘normal’.

Naomi's tomato plants growing from seed

I’m growing plants from seed, and having the time to watch them grow is uplifting and so satisfying.

I’m practising yoga every (ahem) day, my arthritic knees permitting.

Naomi's cat  - Ben the Bengal
I’m ready to strangle both of my Bengals who just DON”T EVER SHUT UP unless they're asleep.  They must just yowl at each other when we are not home normally!

My daughter, Isobel (19) is coping well, but she desperately misses Canal Street and the Village and socialising with her friend,  BUT we have the internet, we have Facetime, Snapchat, Houseparty … how many more apps do you need?   She’s a pragmatic young woman and knows that this lockdown won’t be forever.  We have to adhere to the rules because it SAVES LIVES.  Simples.

Stay safe folks, nature is resetting herself and we will get through this terrible time in history.

And of course, we still have Corrie three times a week.  What more do you want? {grin}

In exchange for Naomi's blog post for us, we've donated £10 to her chosen charity which is Plushealth.

If anyone from Coronation Street  - cast, crew, writers, makeup, wardrobe, tea lady, anyone - would like to write a blog post for us about how you're coping with lockdown do get in touch. We'll donate £10 to a charity of your choice in return.

Hello Naomi, my son worked for the Aids Committee in his city for 7 years and through him I learned a lot about Aids and how thankfully it certainly isn't the death sentence it once was.
Good luck with your tomato plants, and your cat is gorgeous.
It was lovely to meet you. Best wishes to you and your daughter.
