Audrey and Lewis - Yay or Nay?
Oh, the old charmer returns!
Yes, Lewis Archer is back in Coronation Street and as suave and sophisticated a man as the Street has ever seen.
But is Audrey really falling for him again? Well, the signs were all there last night, played superbly and with subtlety by Sue Nicholls. With just a dismissive wave of her hand and an 'Oh, Gail,' we knew what was really going on in Audrey's mind. I know I screamed at the telly 'Audrey! No!'
So you can tell already that in answer the question Audrey and Lewis - Yay or Nay? my reply is a big fat Nay.
But what do you say? Should Audrey give Lewis another chance?

Yay he made Aud smile
It's a Yay from me. Of course Audrey would be mad to have anything to do with him, but as a viewer I'm very pleased to see him back!
Yay Yay Yay
I'd say yay too, I like Lewis even though he's a scoundrel. I just wouldn't want him to keep taking the p*** out of Audrey
Yay with a side of yayness. I love love love Audrey and Lewis together. The actors have fantastic chemistry and I truly believe Lewis still has feelings for Audrey even after everything that's happened. He's got a bit of groveling to do first though!
Absolute yes, Lewis is a fantastic character and I'd love to see the two together again. So glad Claudia is coming back as well!
Well, I thought that was him gone again already. No mention in his text about returning Gail's money. Trouble is, Nigel Havers is such a good actor that we can't tell whether Lewis is actually sincere this time. The only way he might deserve another chance is if he pays Gail back, but even that could be the start of another con! Can Audrey really trust someone who's fooled her twice already? She deserves better.
I’m with coconno. Sue Nichols is so talented Audrey can make sparks with a paper bag. I do not like the idea of a street savvy lady going goo goo over a guy, esp one who ruined her daughter. If Lewis came clean, maybe, but I wouldn’t expect that.
YAY!!!! Audrey needs love and adventure..bad boy Lewis is her mate. Gail would try anyone's patience...she did make it impossible for Lewis to be with her mother even when he was trying to be good....
And it is a tv show...let us live vicariously through Audrey. lol Welcome back I say! Let's see the love of a good woman conform this character.
Nay, at the end of the day-he is a criminal. Good riddance.
Thanks abbyk. Your "he ruined her daughter" made me titter, thinking of the other meaning of "ruin" in Victorian novels 😀. But Lewis couldn’t bring himself to actually do the deed with Gail, even kissing her was a struggle.
It was a fun encounter but it can't go very far. Even if Audrey were prepared to give Lewis another chance, he would flit very soon. There wouldn't be the same frisson if he radically changed and they became a devoted couple. Anyway, Nigel Havers would be off to a theatre job in a couple of years. Meeting up with Lewis should be a wake-up call for Audrey, who realises she's lonely and needs some fun. That's why she liked Geoff. She should launch herself on the dating scene, much to Gail's disgust, especially if she's successful. And if that's the way it goes, please, no triangles.
An absolute, emphatic Yay! I find myself really looking forward to the pair carrying on a clandestine romance at their age - and looking forward to it all blowing up when Gail finds out.
I’d really like to see Gail get her money back though, as it would release her from having to stomach David’s periodic unpleasant threats about her living in the house she bought and in which she raised him. It often takes on a really ugly, bullying quality. That money would give her independence.
Nay. Too much water under the bridge for him to be reformed and accepted. Rita and Dennis all over again. :-)
