It’s been fun this week trying to spot the scenes shot before and after lockdown and melded together. We have Simon Barlow in the back room of the Rovers with a fine head of hair he didn’t have just minutes before. Sally’s hair grows long and gets short within a matter of moments. And don’t even get me started on Kev’s tan and Nick’s hair that stands on end one minute and is flat the next. It’s all good fun and kudos to Corrie for going back to work and carrying on filming to bring us our favourite soap. However, it also feels as if some of the new scenes inserted into the old filming scenes are simply ‘filler scenes’ but anything is better than nothing. And I wonder whether Yasmeen and Geoff’s court scenes unable now to go ahead because of social distancing restrictions on filming, has resulted in the change of storyline for them. Read on and I’ll tell you all about it.
Sally visits Yasmeen in prison and finally Yasmeen confides in Sally about Jiggle it Geoff locking her in the box, burning her clothes and forcing her into that awful red dress in the Rovers. She still doesn’t tell Sally every nasty thing that Geoff’s done but it’s enough for Sally to know that Geoff is a monster who must be stopped. He’s also her father-in-law, however, and there’s tension at home between Sally and Tim who protects his dad to the hilt. Geoff sends an email to Yasmeen in prison but his request is denied and she doesn’t get to read it. However, when Alya says in Speed Daal that Yasmeen is calling her later that day, Geoff steals Alya’s phone. When Yasmeen rings at the appointed time, it’s Geoff who answers. He’s going to try to wheedle his way back into Yasmeen’s life, controlling her from outside the prison. I can’t have been the only Corrie fan in the country to yell at the TV: “Hang up the bloody phone, Yas!”
Leanne’s distraught over news that Oliver has a terminal disease and it was heart-breaking to see her cry and for Nick unable to cuddle and hold her, because of social distancing and this was clearly one of the new, inserted scenes. When Toyah tries to help her sister, Leanne yells that she’ll never know how she feels because “You’re not a mum and you never will be.” Ouch.
Since Jenny returned from France last week, there’s still no sign or mention of Johnny, who’s stayed behind. When he rings the Rovers, Jenny refuses to take his call. Just what is going on?
Elsewhere this week, Roy gives Evelyn some advice on matters of the heart when she and Arthur hit a rocky patch. And by rocky patch, I mean Roy who’s been of more interest to Arthur than Evelyn seems to be. Well, Arthur likes steam trains for heaven’s sake. For men of a certain age, there can be no competing with that.
In other news, Adam continues to be suspicious over Gary and what he knows about the disappearance of Rick Neelan. And Michael and Grace fall out over something, but to be honest, I’m not sure I’m engaging with the Baileys as much as I’d like to and I tend to zone out whenever they come on screen.
And finally this week, at Kev’s garage they get a call from a man with two kids who’s broken down in his car. Kev asks Abi to fix the car but she refuses and so Kev goes alone. The kids are twins and it becomes clear why Abi refused to attend the breakdown. The twins are hers, the ones she’s not allowed to see and have been adopted by a family.
And that’s just about that for this week.

I'm going to play devil's advocate for a moment,granted Leanne was quite harsh to Toyah but I think it was Toyah's 'it's not a competition' comment comparing her struggles to have a child to Oliver's illness which set Leanne off.
Another reason why I don't feel sorry for Toyah is that after her surrogate suffered a miscarriage,instead of grieving with Peter,Toyah manipulated Eve to give up her unborn child as a 'replacement' and denied a grieving Johnny Aidan's daughter and his only grandchild the first few weeks of her life and even named her after Ken's late daughter Susan.
So for the pain that she caused both for the Connors and the Barlows,I think Toyah being told off by Leanne was a comeuppnace.
