Greetings and welcome to another week of words from Weatherfield.  I hope everyone is keeping safe and well in these very unsettled times.  And without any further ado, here we go with this week’s Corrie weekly update.

Newcomer Scott arrives at the Rovers Return, he’s Jenny and Johnny’s new B&B guest who’s staying for a few weeks. He’s tall, dark and has a pulse and Liz is on him like a wasp on flypaper. Eileen too comes in for a look at the fella, even Sean throws his hat into the ring until his gaydar tells him Scott’s straight. Now, you’d think Johnny would be happy to have a paying guest at the Rovers, especially one who wants to stay for so long, but Scott’s arrival rattles Johnny something rotten. He won’t tell Jenny why, and us fans are left in the dark too. But there’s something about Scott that upsets Johnny and he tells Jenny he needs to get away, far away, perhaps to see daughter Eva in France. Best line of the week was Rita sidling up to the bar between Liz and Scott and him asking her if Rita was her mum. Oh, the look on Rita’s face!

Elsewhere this week, Asha has a crush on young Corey and strips naked for him on video chat. She’s fourteen years old, she’s only known Corey for ten minutes and she does this? I’m old, out of touch, so what do I know? Sigh. Anyway, Amy holds a party at Steve and Tracy’s house and the party invite goes viral and loads of gangly teenagers turn up fuelled by testosterone, hair gel and cheap cider. It was never going to end well. Tracy’s precious lamp gets smashed, one couple are found jumping up and down on Tracy and Steve’s bed, Tasha the Slasher’s nails put a hole in Tracy’s fleece and, gulp, someone nicks Steve’s signed photo of Weatherfield FC’s Tommy Orpington that he keeps by his bed.. But worst of all is (dead, evil drug dealer) Rick Neelan’s daughter Kelly is jealous of Asha and Corey. She knows Corey’s filmed Asha naked and picks up Corey’s phone to send the video to everyone at the party. Asha’s mortified and horrified. Me too, that this storyline is playing out with a 14 year old girl. I’m no Annie Walker, but if I had some I think I'd be clutching at my pearls.

Gemma gets some help this week after Dr Gaddass diagnoses postnatal depression and gives her some pills. Off you pop, love, back home with four babies, tablets will help you cope. No, they won’t. She needs at least three extra pairs of hands. She gets one pair at least when Chesney says he’ll be staying home with her to care for the quads. In his place at the kebab shop, Gemma’s mum Bernie starts work and drives Cathy up the wall.

Over at Stillwaters, Ken is up against Charles for the post of resident association chairman. He asks Charles for a copy of the rule book and Charles is evasive so when Norris finds the book in Charles’ sports bag, Ken realises that Charles has lied to them all. “Look!” Norris exclaims as he reads through the rules. “We CAN walk on the grass!”

Leanne’s on the warpath with Steve this week over leaving their son Oliver with Summer. Oliver took poorly left alone with Summer and gets checked over in hospital where he’s found to be okay. We haven’t really seen Oliver, or care about him, so I’m not sure where this storyline is going except it made me wonder why Tracy and Nick Tilsley have never got together before?

And that’s just about that for this week.

Do you think poorly Oliver leads to Liz's exit story? If Steve is instructing a solicitor to get custody of Oliver, a social worker will interview relatives for the report. I've read that Liz does something to protect Steve but they fall out over it and she has to leave the Street. Perhaps she implies Tracy walks all over Steve and this goes against them in the social worker's report.

Eva is not Johnny’s daughter.

Yes, Eva's mum was Stella, who is also Leeanne's mum. Eva has Johnny's grand daughter, Aiden's child.
I will be glad when the tedious Still waters scenes end. We can't get het up about baddie Charles because he's not Corrie regular and viewers don't really know him.
I'll also be glad to see the back of nasty Norris and Freda. I don't understand why they'd want to live there, anyway!

I can't take to Stillwaters either. I find I lose attention when those scenes come on. I did love Norris before and I would much prefer to see him back on the street, bickering with Rita and Mary again.

I think Tracy and Nick did get together, very briefly, just after she got out of prison. She also had a fling with David around the same time! Eww.

What? Asha is only 14? I already found it hard to believe that she would strip for a boy she barely knows, but her being so young makes it even more unlikely. It's good to highlight the dangers of sexting, but with someone older.

Remembering that Sarah was pregnant with Bethany when she was only 13,it shouldn't be surprising that Asha would strip to impress a boy at only 14.
It's sad and unfortunate that the writers prefer to portray teenage girls desperate for attention for boys and willing to do anything for that attention.
Speaking of characters wanting attention, her grandson who suffered a seizure is in the hospital and Liz is in the pub flirting with a stranger instead of visiting Oliver to see how he is?!

The "is Rita your mother?" question was quite funny, but in fact Rita, in her 80s, could easily be mother to Liz who is in her 60s.

I was 14 when I started sexting so I think it is a good thing that Corrie is highlighting this and encouraging parents to ensure that their child is safe. By the looks of the comments, it is a new thing for everyone. Check on your child please.

Unfortunately sexting is too common. I know of a 9 year old child who did that, unaware of the terrible consequences. Mother felt helpless.
