When Walford Met Weatherfield

In case you missed it last night, here's the Coronation Street & EastEnders crossover from last night's Children In Need.  It's definitely worth watching - full of great jokes and parallels.

Loved Gail's outdoing the woman in the cafe, competing over who had had the most murders/murderers/jail-terms in their life. Don't know the other character's name because I can't bear to watch the Other Soap. I assume the point behind the scene with Eileen & Nina Wadia's character was that the latter also has a gay son/lodger/both & isn't happy about it?

Did anyone else shudder, though, when Eileen said those trams would be the death of her?

Seeing the Kat character again, after having watched Jessie Wallace as the warm, likeable Pat Phoenix, really brought home to me how wasted the actress is playing that screeching, snarling, unappealing harridan. Becky-haters should take note: it could be A LOT worse!

Yes, I picked up on Eileen's line. Was it a red herring or a preminition ?!

Wasn't that brilliant! I didn't know who most of the EE characters were other than the one with Gail, and Kat and Alfie but it was still funny. I *think* Daran Little wrote it which is appropriate since he knows Corrie so well and now writes for EE.

I watch both soaps (Corrie is the best!), I got a little confused as to who was normally in which soap at times! (Probably an age thing!!!).

Have to say, Kat going "AHT!" was the highlight for me! must have taken the lining off her throat!

That was hilarious and really well done. Hope Eileen's words aren't prophetic!

This could have been just silly but they did it SOOOO well. I have not watched EE in some time so I don't know most of the characters but it was still funny. I too loved Gail in the cafe... priceless. And yes, let's hope Eileen was just teasing.

wonderful! I did notice Eileen's little aside there...hmmmm

I really do not think the scriptwriters would give away such an obvious clue.

Yeah, it was Daran Little who wrote it, he said so on Twitter. Was very funny - loved the scene between Jane, Hayley and Sunitta in Roy's Rolls where they were all trying to kid on that nothing ever happened in Walford or Weatherfield. I think Eileen's line is just a red herring, but I laughed out load at her house shaking with the tram passing.

Fan-flippin'-tastic!!! Best thing I've seen online since like...EVER!

But ohhhh...Eileen: "I've always said it'll be the death of me". Noooooo!!! It's Eileen who dies in the tram crash, isn't it? Say it isn't so!!! :-o

I think what was clearly a tongue-in-cheek gag pretty much rules Eileen OUT of the potential tram-crash victims. They would NEVER have permitted such a spoiler if it were for real.
