Tommy Duckworth returns

Jack and Vera's grandson, Tommy Duckworth is set to make a return to the street next year, Tommy was last seen in 2000. He will be played by ex-Hollyoaks actor Chris Fountain, who was popular with fans during his time in the teen soap. Tommy is set to take after his grandad Jack, rather than his dad, Terry, and will quickly become a part of the community

It'll be good to have a Duckworth back on the street, a nice Duckworth too!

It's nice to have the Duckworth name continuing, but as for the casting...yawn!

Would have been nice to see some interaction between Tommy and Jack before Jack's death, but then that may have been reminscence of interaction with Paul before Vera's death.

I think I'd be more excited if Terry was to return but then I suppose Jack never wanted to see him again.

With Terry though, it would have just been another bad guy on the street, and we have enough of them, with Tommy, we actually have something of a clean slate character, except he has a legendary last name :p

Ok... Tommy has to have some sort of connection if he's going to become part of the fabric of the street. That must mean that Tyrone will be sticking around because he's really the only connection to Jack now other than Jack's old friends, of course. Tyrone would certainly know Tommy, i'm sure he's met him over the years accompanying Vera and Jack to Blackpool.

I don't understand why Tommy would come back? He has no family here, Tyrone is nothing to do with him - even Des Barnes is dead. It seems a bit random to bring him back. And after the disaster that was Paul, I'm not filled with confidence.

I guess this means Brad Armstrong-Duckworth will turn up in around 2014?

I agree with Merseytart. Dont really need him to come back.

jack and vera were very close to the 'Ortons so I'm sure Tommy would already know that Jack and Vera were both dead. There would be no reason for Tommy to visit the street....i suppose now there will always be a link if they want to bring terry back in the future.

What is wrong with a young guy wanting to see the place he was born? The street where his mother was killed? Tommy was effectively orphaned at a very young age and raised by two sets of grandparents. With his mother dead and father estranged, it's credible that he would want to understand where his roots are. Beyond an initial reason to bring him to Weatherfiled it won;t be difficult for the writers to find a reason for him to stay (job offer while visiting, maybe?) I think that since we otherwise know nothing about this character as a personality we should give him a chance before deciding the show 'doesn't need him'.

Oooh, I liked Chris Fountain when he was on Dancing on Ice - he was robbed, he should've won.

Instead of introducing a new character into the Street how about getting a new script writer and some believable story lines. Having watched Corrie since it's first airing I find it is now dull boring and at times just plain stupid.

I wondered how long it was until Tommah returned, but wouldnt he be Tommy Horton rather thatn Tommy Duckworth? Would have been better if he had at least come to the funeral or had some interaction with Jack before he died.

Tvor said...

No he would be a Duckworth as Terry and Lisa were married.

I did wonder why Tommy never showed up for either funeral but Chris Fountain is joining Corrie - that's gaymazing!
