Drag queen Dave Lynn joins Coronation Street

When Jason Grimshaw wins Mr Gay Weatherfield next week on Corrie, real-life drag artist Dave Lynn will be on screen as the competition host.

Dave said: “It’s a really saucy little episode. I was incredibly jumpy before I went on. Walking around in drag past Ken, Deirdre and the others was surreal - it felt like the real thing. They let me ad-lib most of my six scenes. It was a really good laugh although I didn't expect to spend two days standing next to eight men in their underpants.”

And did you know that John Sharples - grandson of Bernard Youens, who played Corrie's Stanley Ogden - is an award-winning drag artist in Spain? Find out more about John's drag act, Bitter and Twisted here.

Don't mean to be unkind but has anyone else noticed the uncanny resemblance between a dressed up Dave and Katherine Kelly who plays Becky Granger?

I was looking forward to this episode as I love drag acts. Its such a shame that this drag act couldnt sing. I found it slightly disturbing and turned over. It was cringing, cut the singing and give some real lines instead of half mumbled ab libs then it might of worked. So, So, wrong on this occassion!
