Michael apparently told The Sun: "If Sally's cancer doesn't end the affair and Kevin's got no remorse towards her then I'm leaving because I can't be putting up with it. If he carries on with Molly he doesn't deserve to be in the family unit, it's as simple as that. I hope Kevin gives all of his backing to Sally because if he doesn't he's a bigger b*****d than I thought he was."

Michael Le Vell threatens to quit Corrie?
Michael le Vell, who has played Coronation Street's Kevin Webster for 26 years, is reported as saying he'll leave the soap if his on-screen character doesn't change his ways after learning that Sally has cancer.

I agree with Michael La Vell.
To be brutally frank, it seems a little odd for an actor to be threatening to leave because he disagrees with a storyline that develops his character unsympathetically when he's spent 26 years playing the character as basically a none-too-bright blockhead.
I've met him and it's entirely possible he was winding up the reporter. He's got quite a jokey sense of humour. On the other hand, when i met him it was a few months before the Molly affair and it was still only in the rumour phase and he did say he hoped it wouldn't happen. Likely as not he already knows how they plan to play this out so my bet is on the wind up.
Isn’t Reece Dinsdale quitting because he didn’t like the stories for Joe? I doubt very much if Michael Le Veil will quit after playing Kevin for all these years, he must know which side his bread is buttered!
I think tvor's right in that it was probably said in jest. He wouldn't leave and neither would, i suspect, ITV want him to.
One of the things Michael told us was that it didn't really matter whether the public dislikes a storyline, to the actor, that is. The actor is just glad to have a good storyline to get their teeth into.
Shame he's forgotten who watches Corrie and why he's still in the Street. I asked for his autograph at Orlando Airport. Didn't realise he was eating - apologised - but his response was really rude and angry -No I won't. He's as rude and nasty as his character. Or is it one and the same.
