Coronation Street Episode Review; Weds 6th Nov 8.30 pm

Paul confronts Josh in the hospital room, having sneaked in, whilst disguised as a janitor/ nurse in full scrubs. I wonder where the outfit came from and how did he sneak past security? I'm also bemused as to how Paul can easily threaten Josh, yet can't confront Kel? I guess the rationale would be that it's not HIS abuser, and I suppose he can be himself with Billy, Josh isn't someone from HIS past. Paul goes full throttle in the hope of changing his mind. Will threats of violence really work?

Beaten by Beth's expensive headstone demands, Ken heads home; defeated and deflated. Confiding in Claudia, she decides they should head to Scotland to bring Daniel home.

The Tinkers/Barlows have been at war for a while, so Beth waving the white flag (and accepting Sinead's simpler funeral plan) is a sigh of relief, from me. Having said that, hasn't Beth been a revelation? Lisa George is proving to be a superb actress!

Talking of fraught families, it's nice to see some sibling closeness from Emma and Amy. Since finding out they are half-sisters, Emma and Amy have bonded quickly, and Amy admits to her sister that Tyler is back on the scene (got her pregnant, Vicky's son, etc) and is sending her texts. Insisting they are just friends, Emma promises to keep the secret from Steve. Will she do it?

Reinvigorated from her exam, Abi is back on the cider and her closeness with Kevin seems to be rubbing Sally up the wrong way. Over a pint, Kevin tells Abi that she can stop at his gaff until it boils over. Less swayed by Kev's new loaded status, I think Abi just wants a friend, but as we know, Kev has other ideas. Confronting Sally, Abi, not content with staining Sal's sofa with chilli sauce, she pours pomidoras (Nigella's, no less) all over her head. Was this humourous?

In prison, Imran calls an urgent meeting with David and tells him that Josh Tucker has changed his statement, admitting it was Tez and Abe, after all. Calling Shona to break the good news, David is cornered by Abe. Meanwhile, on hearing the good news, Shona is buoyant and puts the wedding plans back into action. Can David be released within 24 hours, or will they get married in the prison itself?

Later, and after Paul pleads guilty to changing Josh's mind, Billy gives his ex boyf a big hug. Are these two destined to get back together?

Back from the Circus, Gangster Gary (that's what I'm calling him now) also seems to be jovial and clowning around with Maria and the kids. Scaring Johnny in the pub (reminding me of Phelan) Gary gets news from his P.I about Ali's dodgy drug deals at the hospital and makes a decidedly wicked threat.

Is Gary about to unleash some carnage on the cobbles?

Coronation Street Episode Review; Weds 2nd of Jan 8.30pm

As promised, here is the part two review of this Wednesday's Coronation Street.

Our Chesney is courting with disaster, as Emma and Gemma continue to fight for the kebab shop manager. Gemma has always been the top of Chesney's affections, but as Emma finally admits her worries, will Gemma finally realise the truth about Chesney?. And as the silent calls continue, has Gemma got another admirer?.

Audrey isn't convinced that Lewis has drained her account of Archie's money. Either squandered or stolen, something doesn't seem to ring true with Lewis's supposed final fraud. Sarah also admits to being in a financial quandary. As the police show CCTV images to Audrey, Gail doesn't recognise the lady at the cash machine. If it isn't Lewis (it looks like he is actually dead), who's stolen Audrey's cash?. As accusations fly, the Platts internal fights and plights look set to continue.

Back in Blackpool, Mary gives Jude £800 to settle the B&B bill. Talking to Jude's bottle blonde, Roy realises that Jude has assumed the identity of street stalwart, Ken Barlow, whilst masquerading as a surgeon!. It seems Jude hasn't changed at all. Unfortunately, Mary can't spot any of the signs, and hands the money over to her son. It isn't long before Mary realises that Jude has absconded down the promenade with her cash. Dismayed but not dissuaded by Jude's treachery, Mary solemnly sings along to Abba on the radio, as Roy drives them home (I was hoping for Morrissey if I'm honest).

Meanwhile, Billy is his usual saintly self and vies to get Paul a job at Underworld. Taking along his charm (and government funding advice), Carla is soon won over.

Anyway, that's me done for another week.

I think we've seen the last of Jude, and although all evidence suggests otherwise, I'm still not sure the same can be said for Lewis?

Coronation Street Episode Review; Weds 21st of March 2018 7.30pm

Welcome to Wednesday's edition of the Coronation Street Blog and the first of tonight's two episodes.

Beginning at Number 9, Fiz and Tyrone are reunited but the atmosphere remains frosty. Ty leaves for work and nearly forgets his wallet, courtesy of Ruby hiding it, or was it Hope?. Young Joseph also makes an admission about Hope, which sees Chesney paying Fiz a visit. Fiz finally confesses Hope's recent hellish behaviour and Chesney urges his sister to confess to Ty before its too late!. Later on, a returning Ty is gifting flowers, heavily weighed down by his guilty conscience. Insisting on his love for Fiz, Fiz tries in vain to confess for Hope, but as water drips through the ceiling, Ruby is blamed for blocking the bathroom and receives some heavy-handed punishment from her father.

Meanwhile, over at the Platt's, preparations are in full swing for Harry's birthday party. In no mood for celebrations, David remains sullen, preoccupied, and in the midst of his obvious trauma.
Accosted by Josh in the street, David takes his anger out on Sean at the Salon. Seeking advice from Eva, a worried Shona seeks to reignite the passion with David, he responds hungrily as if to defend his masculinity.

At Roy's flat, the blushing (and gushing) bride to be Michelle visits Carla to discuss the upcoming nuptials. Sharing far too much information about her nocturnal activities with Robert, Carla regales her unequally lacklustre love life. With the 'top table' wedding plans in near disarray, can Carla convince Ali to attend his 'Mothers' wedding?.

Over at Number 4, a resettled Sally's redecorating plans are in progress. Seeking aspirational and expensively sarcastic wallpaper, can tightwad Tim get the 'Italian fresco' design any cheaper from Kirk?. Lazy Tim then decides a cash-strapped Kirk can do the decorating for him too!

At the bistro, Gail has a meeting with medium/psychic/ clairvoyant (delete as appropriate) Rosemary. She's brandishing a message from Richard Hillman, will this weaken Gail's spiritual scepticism?.

Let hope Hillman's ghost doesn't spoil the kid's party!!.

Coronation Street Episode Review, Wednesday July 19th

It's that time of the week already! Another Wednesday wander down Weatherfield way- its time for my hump day review.

The action begins in Roy's Rolls, and Adam and Eva begin their plan to bring Aidan down, and at all costs. Eva's legendary giggle at a bemused Roy is one of those great Corrie subtle moments. The subtlety is suddenly diminished however, when Eva steals Aidan's financial paperwork (online banking, anyone?).

Over at the builders yard, Phelan makes amends with young Seb, and that scouse charm is layered even thicker when a suddenly interested Nicola (Phelan's potential heir apparent) returns to the fold and wishes to reside to The Rovers, for a 'getting to know you session'.

Back at Roy's Rolls, David and Sarah are pondering the disastrous attempt at nailing nefarious Nathan as Bethany storms in. After an impassioned plea, a broken Bethany departs, more aloof than ever.

Down at the pub, at the 'getting to know you session' we delve deeper into Phelan's scouse psyche. Phelan admits to having an 'affinity with wolves', an affinity that is prophetic, to say the least. The shared affinity being young Seb, who has informed Nicola that Phelan is dying, no chance of that, definitely not our Phelan's style.

Meanwhile Eva's soliloquy to her cat (after stealing Aidan's financial papers) is notable. Eva's underlined feeling of revenge (although heavily laden) has Adan Barlow (or should we say Baldwin) salivating for the factory. I imagine Corrie's newest legal firm would have fun, with such a predicament.

With a predictable comedy 'break' in tonight's wonderfully drama-packed episode, blundering Brian continues on his bizarre 'Keep Britain Tidy' farce. I much prefer my comedy storylines from Norris, if I am honest.

Outside the chip shop (no sign of Brian for the newspaper wrapping), a sudden dawn of realisation has shone on Bethany, counselling may well be a turning point. As Craig listen's tentatively and remains her true confidante, I feel a new romance may bloom?

And romance, is the final theme of tonight's episode. the 'bezzy mates' of the builders yard flat have all had a bevvy and the 'ménage à trois' becomes a comfortable twosome. I can see Luke and Ayla as a romance?

The true romance in tonight's episode though, is Adam 'Mike Baldwin' Barlow and his chance to finally get his hands on his true love.. his heir apparent, the factory.
