Coronation Street Episode Review; Weds 20th Nov 7.30 pm

Bleating blasphemy from the pulpit at Sinead's funeral, staunch humanist Daniel will surely now regret joking to Billy about 'being struck down by lightning' for denouncing god. Struck down? not quite...but his flat was ransacked and burgled whilst he was by Sinead's graveside, and the laptop she lovingly saved digital death videos on (is there a name for this modern trend?), has been stolen too.
Unluckily, Daniel didn't back-up any of the data and is understandably distraught. Carla and Peter babysit Bertie whilst Daniel investigates, as Ken is in hospital (terrible cough that, let's hope Dr Ali isn't doing the diagnosis!). Meanwhile, with Weatherfield police being badly understaffed (arent they always) they cant immediately investigate the burglaries (how political!), so Daniel decides to take the law into his own hands.

If a burglar is on the prowl in Weatherfield, it looks like one of Billy's parishioners has also been targeted. Telling Paul all about his suspicions ( are we pleased those two are back together?) and his missing vicar diary being full of addresses, Billy assumes his new church cleaner is the culprit. Is Bernie on the rob, again?

Speaking of the law, Robert asks Adam for legal paternity advice, and it looks like Peter is getting broody with Carla, and he wants a puppy!. Meanwhile, a visiting Vicky is less in the mood when dealing with Robert's ambiguity and general stupidity. He wanted a baby, Michelle doesn't, she's also a bit of a mardy bum. Vicky is gorgeous, adores him, and is pregnant with his child. What IS this guys problem?

Being drip-fed the Baileys over these past few months has proved surprisingly beneficial and I'm a fan. My fave is Ed, what about you?. Although, is he deceiving Agi with the extra cash, online gambling again? Also back on screen, James has had a night on the tiles and returns having lost his phone and met a young man. Fretting about the phone and his sexuality being discovered, he admits everything to his brother. Micheal offers to take James to Stockport, in hope of tracking down his lost phone.

Families eh, who'd have them? Well, it seems David and Shona, that's for sure.
Love, marriage, prison riots, stabbings from jailbreak sons- its been a  tumultuous few months for my fave corrie couple. After a quick chat, David and Shona (great camera shot of the barber's window) decide to formally adopt Max and Lily.

Meanwhile, Paul's family ties are beginning to bind him. Investigating Billy's suspicions of his mother, Paul heads over to Chesney's and soon finds a hidden bag and a stash of (assumed) stolen loot. Has the vicar solved Weatherfield's latest crime wave?

Speaking of which, Daniel heads over to the porn shop and recognises HIS laptop. Retrieving a golf club, he threatens the owner. Does it look like Daniel may get that visit from the police, after all?

Coronation Street Episode Review; Weds 2nd of Jan 8.30pm

As promised, here is the part two review of this Wednesday's Coronation Street.

Our Chesney is courting with disaster, as Emma and Gemma continue to fight for the kebab shop manager. Gemma has always been the top of Chesney's affections, but as Emma finally admits her worries, will Gemma finally realise the truth about Chesney?. And as the silent calls continue, has Gemma got another admirer?.

Audrey isn't convinced that Lewis has drained her account of Archie's money. Either squandered or stolen, something doesn't seem to ring true with Lewis's supposed final fraud. Sarah also admits to being in a financial quandary. As the police show CCTV images to Audrey, Gail doesn't recognise the lady at the cash machine. If it isn't Lewis (it looks like he is actually dead), who's stolen Audrey's cash?.  As accusations fly, the Platts internal fights and plights look set to continue.

Back in Blackpool, Mary gives Jude £800 to settle the B&B bill. Talking to Jude's bottle blonde, Roy realises that Jude has assumed the identity of street stalwart, Ken Barlow, whilst masquerading as a surgeon!. It seems Jude hasn't changed at all. Unfortunately, Mary can't spot any of the signs, and hands the money over to her son. It isn't long before Mary realises that Jude has absconded down the promenade with her cash. Dismayed but not dissuaded by Jude's treachery, Mary solemnly sings along to Abba on the radio, as Roy drives them home (I was hoping for Morrissey if I'm honest).

Meanwhile, Billy is his usual saintly self and vies to get Paul a job at Underworld. Taking along his charm (and government funding advice), Carla is soon won over.

I think we've seen the last of Jude, and although all evidence suggests otherwise, I'm still not sure the same can be said for Lewis?

Coronation Street Episode Review, Weds 14 March 7.30pm

Welcome to Wednesday's edition of the Coronation Street Blog and the first of tonight's two episodes.

It's breakfast at number one and Summer and Amy are readying for school. As Tracy leaves, it's evident the girls aren't going to school. Instead, the duo plays truant and head off to Manchester to find the ever reclusive Billy. Following his fleeting appearance at Eileen's and his soul-searching with Peter Barlow, we later see the vicar being put in the cells at Weatherfield cop shop.

Also on the streets of Manchester, Peter has too headed out in search of Billy. It isn't long before Peter finds the girls being troubled by a vagrant, rescues them, and returns them safely home. Calling Summer from the police cell, Billy needs to rescued too.Peter phones his nephew Adam and the solicitor heads straight down to Billy at Weatherfield cop shop.

Back on the street, Tyrone's in trouble of a different kind and wants to fix things with Fiz. Whilst he resides at Kevin's with Ruby, Fiz is with Hope at Number 9. As Chesney pays her a visit, he senses his sister's disstress. Breaking down, Fiz  tells her brother of Tyrone and Gemma's Friday night tryst.

Protecting his sister's honour, Chez flees to Prima Doner. Spitting fury at his former best friend, the kebab shop manager swiftly fires Gemma. Fair or unfair do we feel? Hell hath no fury like a redhead scorned! (I should know, 2 of my ex-girlfriends were redheads! - true story).

At the Salon, Audrey has closed the shop for the day (swerving Gail's shepherd's pie) for a seance with clairvoyant Rosemary. As the once sceptical Audrey listens to Rosemary regale tales from the spirit of Alfie, she quickly falls under the clairvoyant's spell. Rosemary also appears to have another message from beyond, but from whom?

Having been given the afternoon off, David joins Sophie, Josh, and Alya (who is definitely STILL grieving) in seeking premises for the upcoming charity boxing bout.

Outside the boxing gym, Alya quickly spots the EXACT car that terrorised Luke at the garage. Is this the same car, will they find the occupant?. Will Luke's death be avenged?.

I reckon Alya could do with a spiritual seance from Rosemary.

Anyway, that's me done for another week, I'm off to Prima Doner. I heard some redhead has started a fight!.

Coronation Street Episode Review; Weds 14th Feb 2018 7.30pm

Welcome to your first visit to tonight's Corrie double. I've been in meetings all day in Manchester (ironically) so I've managed to avoid all the saccharine social media 'valentines day' posts. Can the same be said for tonight's trip down Weatherfield ?.

It's fair to middling if I'm honest.

Following Bethany's sacking, Craig takes her flowers as a PC peace offering. Bethany refuses and the flowers end up in the bin. Is it the end for this already lacklustre relationship?.
Seeking solace in her mother Sarah, Bethany decides to play cupid for her Mum and Aidan. But with Aidan having a Kidney operation next week, will his heart really be beating for a new romance?.

A vengeful Adam is hardly feeling the love either. Having been unceremoniously dumped by Eva, the solicitors 'drugging the vicar' plan appears to be in full swing, but at who's expense?. Billy and Summer appear truly lost without Todd. Summer tries her best to help Billy, but her 'Cinderella' act has her losing his drugs instead of a slipper. Before long she's ostracised by her school friends, and her teacher is being harassed by granny Geraldine. With Billy suddenly 'missing', Summer misses the school bus home. Will she accept a lift from a stranger?.

Maybe she could choose to run instead, as the whole street appears be taking time out to do a charity fun run, on a Wednesday afternoon (?). The 'Run For Your Wife' competition is tonight's comedy compensation. Only Mary could have me laughing out loud, warming up the residents like 'Mr Motivator' and screeching at Michelle. Brilliant corrie! and the daft fancy dress outfits are again paraded. But where's Dev in his wig?

Is was, of course, some light relief amidst tonight's protruding darkness. As Billy's all-consuming drug dependency sinks deeper, is an overdose the 'wake up' call he needs?. If Eva isn't his saviour, could the streets new GP come to the vicar's aid?.

That's me done for another week, I'm off to 'Run For My Wife' down Victoria Street- Happy Valentines day all!

Coronation Street Episode Review; Weds 24th Jan 2018 7.30pm

Welcome to part one of tonight's Coronation Street blog episode review. Its the 4th 'Hump Day' of 2018 so let's leap into the action on our favourite fictional street.

Following Gary's altercation in the lap-dancing club, tonight's episode sees the wounded Windass warrior back on fine form. Exiting swiftly from Weatherfield General, Gary arrives back on Coronation Street and dishes out advice to Faye, divulges Anna's ABH / GBH charge with Kevin, and broodily reignites his relationship with Sarah!. You'd think Sarah would be more concerned with her underage daughter's seedy strip job but hey, that's Sarah for you, she's rather deluded - bless her. How with Bethany take this reconciliation?.

My other favourite 'machiavellian macho man' of Coronation Street, is also back on top form. Phelan is looking very busy indeed. As Aidan chases him for the factory roof job, a proposal of a site managers job down at the (murder) mill is also in the offing. Will Phelan evade justice or is this the start of his downfall?.

As Alya still mourns Phelan's most recent murder (where is Seb by the way), Aidan is side-stepped after bumping into a mournful Maria in Roys Rolls. Its a bump of another kind though, as a text from Eva encourages Aidan's true feelings. Unfortunately, his meeting with Maria is relayed back to Eva (via Peter Barlow) and Eva's ambiguity for a baby Connor is reborn.

Will the baby survive the factory step fall, and how will a grieving Toyah react to her half-sister's news?.

Adam Barlow is all out for revenge with pills for Billy the Vicar. With Eileen's good news of Todd's return, she reluctantly helps Billy plan an escape with Summer and Todd, so she drives him to meet his 'daughter' and her son. Upon arriving, however, it's clear that Todd is a no-show. As Summer delivers a heartfelt and harrowing monologue, it appears Todd has already gone on the run, after punching a PC!!. What now for Billy and Summer?.

Meanwhile, Adam manages to gain entrance to Eileen's and swaps Billys painkillers for paracetamol, will Billy notice as his pain increases?. There was no doping Dev whom wouldn't prescribe enough tablets to Adam but what about his other half, Gina?. Busy with new orders for her business venture, will she collect her bi-polar prescription in time?
It was jam-packed tonight so I almost forget to mention Tracy Barlows birthday!. Steve has got her flowers and a trip to Paris. Young Amy however, isn't happy that she that her parents have reunited and she wants a new phone!!. Kids today eh!

Anyway, that's me done for another week. I'm off to listen to some Leonard Cohen tunes with Peter Barlow.
