Coronation Street Episode Review; Weds 20th March 7.30pm

Welcome to this week's explosive edition of the Coronation Street blog!

The fallout from the factory roof collapse is obviously central to tonight's drama and of course the wedding of  Kate and Rana. But before that, we have the immediate aftermath of the street's latest disaster.

Has one of the knicker factory girls stitched their very last?

As the episode begins, we approach an eerily silent Underworld. With Gina's screams fading into the distance, we see Sally unconscious on the floor with dust and masonry displaced all around.

A blast sound ricochets around the cobbles and the residents are soon out of their houses.

Meanwhile, at the posh hotel, Kate nervously awaits for Rana to arrive and begins to panic. The wedding guests are oblivious to events unfolding back on the street.

Waking from the roof collapse, it seems Paul, Gemma, Sean, Kirk, and Emma (phew!), are uninjured. Kirk, however, has his legs trapped under debris which is continuing to fall. Comedicaly, still munching his mini-cheddars, Kirk notices that a live cable has fallen from the roof, it's evident that an electrical explosion is a real possibility.

Meanwhile, the street's alpha males; Tim, Tyrone and Gary (alongside Abi) are quickly inside the factory. Turning the power off, Abi seems to have averted any explosion, and briefly avoids falling debris herself (you had me worried there, Corrie!) before escaping the scene.

Coming out of the factory, the staff appear to be safe (including a previously missing Izzy) with Kirk relatively unscathed. Unfortunately, Sally still lies amongst the rubble.

Back at the wedding venue, Rana still hasn't arrived. Sure that she wasn't at the factory, Imran calls Kate to tell her about the accident and to let her know that Rana should be safe. Leaving her fiancee a voicemail, Rana gives a Kate a quick call back; just to let her know that she's trapped under a precariously placed steel beam (and an office door) inside Underworld.

Pulled safely from the wreckage, Sally is immediately taken to the hospital. Tim is furious at Gina for leading her to the roof, whilst an upset Abi is consoled by Seb. Meanwhile, still trapped (and seemingly unbeknown to emergency services) Rana desperately tries to keep in phone contact with Kate. Losing signal, Rana literally prays for mercy.  Heading back to the factory in a taxi, Kate, Jenny, and Johnny alert emergency services to Rana's whereabouts.

Inside the factory, Rana is located by the rescue team, but before the firemen can reach her, Underworld collapses to the ground with Rana still inside! The residents recoil in horror as a helpless Kate can do nothing but observe the factory imploding.

Is this the end of Underworld?

Is this the end of Kate and Rana?

Coronation Street Episode Review; Weds 28th March 2018 7.30pm

As Underworld looks set to re-open, another chapter on Coronation Street looks destined to close.

Yep, it looks like the end is nigh for Patrick Phelan. Whilst Jenny Bradley (never Connor!) eyes up villas in sunny Spain, Phelan has set his sights on a seaside cottage hideaway, and a quick getaway from the street. Planning on fleeing with false passports, and leaving Summer with Dev, it isn't long before Eileen has agreed to this plan, in hope of saving the marriage and their life in Weatherfield. As Pat makes plans to leave, it seems his nefarious activities at the mill site are also coming undone. Labourer Seb spots Phelan's stooge down the yard and overhears a phone conversation with Pat. Is Phelan paying this guy to stop the concrete pillars from being refilled?. WE know what Pat's hiding but will Seb and Gary be able to find any evidence down the mill sire before Phelan flees?.

Back on Coronation Street, Toyah is planning veggie sausages and mini hotpots for The Rovers Family Day. She may want to add 'dripping irony' to the menu, as Simon Barlows bad boy persona is causing Peter and Leanne some serious family trouble.Sneaking off to confess all about Simon to Carla, Peter later returns to The Rovers and fails to mention his meeting with his ex, to a distracted Toyah.

As Simon and the gang harass Carla on the street, is Simon about to cause Peter more trouble?.

Following her recent tumble by Simon's scuffle, it appears Audrey will be a resident at Weatherfield General for a little bit longer. Unamused with Rita's gift of re-read magazines and hospital radio being blasted from the next bed, Audrey is keen to escape already, and who can blame her with  'seasons in the sun' on a loop. Afterall, it is a song about someone dying...

I'm sure Audrey will be ok, but what Phelan and Eileen?. Fake passports? Phelans gun? A cottage break by the sea?. Here's hoping the threats from Tim, and Seb's detective work, don't mean Eileen's in real trouble!!.

Anyway, that's me done for another week. Keep an eye out for tonights 8.30pm episode review written by @glenn_writes

Coronation Street Episode Review; Weds 21st of March 2018 7.30pm

Welcome to Wednesday's edition of the Coronation Street Blog and the first of tonight's two episodes.

Beginning at Number 9, Fiz and Tyrone are reunited but the atmosphere remains frosty. Ty leaves for work and nearly forgets his wallet, courtesy of Ruby hiding it, or was it Hope?. Young Joseph also makes an admission about Hope, which sees Chesney paying Fiz a visit. Fiz finally confesses Hope's recent hellish behaviour and Chesney urges his sister to confess to Ty before its too late!. Later on, a returning Ty is gifting flowers, heavily weighed down by his guilty conscience. Insisting on his love for Fiz, Fiz tries in vain to confess for Hope, but as water drips through the ceiling, Ruby is blamed for blocking the bathroom and receives some heavy-handed punishment from her father.

Meanwhile, over at the Platt's, preparations are in full swing for Harry's birthday party. In no mood for celebrations,  David remains sullen, preoccupied, and in the midst of his obvious trauma.
Accosted by Josh in the street, David takes his anger out on Sean at the Salon. Seeking advice from Eva, a worried Shona seeks to reignite the passion with David, he responds hungrily as if to defend his masculinity.

At Roy's flat, the blushing (and gushing) bride to be Michelle visits Carla to discuss the upcoming nuptials. Sharing far too much information about her nocturnal activities with Robert, Carla regales her unequally lacklustre love life. With the 'top table' wedding plans in near disarray, can Carla convince Ali to attend his 'Mothers' wedding?.

Over at Number 4, a  resettled Sally's redecorating plans are in progress. Seeking aspirational and expensively sarcastic wallpaper, can tightwad Tim get the 'Italian fresco' design any cheaper from Kirk?. Lazy Tim then decides a cash-strapped Kirk can do the decorating for him too!

At the bistro, Gail has a meeting with medium/psychic/ clairvoyant (delete as appropriate) Rosemary. She's brandishing a message from Richard Hillman, will this weaken Gail's spiritual scepticism?.

Let hope Hillman's ghost doesn't spoil the kid's party!!.

Anyway, that's me done for another week. Keep an eye out for tonight's 8.30pm episode review written by @glenn_writes

Coronation Street Episode Review, Weds 14 March 7.30pm

Welcome to Wednesday's edition of the Coronation Street Blog and the first of tonight's two episodes.

It's breakfast at number one and Summer and Amy are readying for school. As Tracy leaves, it's evident the girls aren't going to school. Instead, the duo plays truant and head off to Manchester to find the ever reclusive Billy. Following his fleeting appearance at Eileen's and his soul-searching with Peter Barlow, we later see the vicar being put in the cells at Weatherfield cop shop.

Also on the streets of Manchester, Peter has too headed out in search of Billy. It isn't long before Peter finds the girls being troubled by a vagrant, rescues them, and returns them safely home. Calling Summer from the police cell, Billy needs to rescued too.Peter phones his nephew Adam and the solicitor heads straight down to Billy at Weatherfield cop shop.

Back on the street, Tyrone's in trouble of a different kind and wants to fix things with Fiz. Whilst he resides at Kevin's with Ruby, Fiz is with Hope at Number 9. As Chesney pays her a visit, he senses his sister's disstress. Breaking down, Fiz  tells her brother of Tyrone and Gemma's Friday night tryst.

Protecting his sister's honour, Chez flees to Prima Doner. Spitting fury at his former best friend, the kebab shop manager swiftly fires Gemma. Fair or unfair do we feel? Hell hath no fury like a redhead scorned! (I should know, 2 of my ex-girlfriends were redheads! - true story).

At the Salon, Audrey has closed the shop for the day (swerving Gail's shepherd's pie) for a seance with clairvoyant Rosemary. As the once sceptical Audrey listens to Rosemary regale tales from the spirit of Alfie, she quickly falls under the clairvoyant's spell. Rosemary also appears to have another message from beyond, but from whom?

Having been given the afternoon off, David joins Sophie, Josh, and Alya (who is definitely STILL grieving) in seeking premises for the upcoming charity boxing bout.

Outside the boxing gym, Alya quickly spots the EXACT car that terrorised Luke at the garage. Is this the same car, will they find the occupant?. Will Luke's death be avenged?.

I reckon Alya could do with a spiritual seance from Rosemary.

Anyway, that's me done for another week, I'm off to Prima Doner. I heard some redhead has started a fight!.

Coronation Street Episode Review; Weds 7th March 2018 7.30pm

Welcome to Wednesday's edition of the Coronation Street Blog and the first of tonights two episodes.

We begin with breakfast at Number 3, Eileen's cooking for a recuperating Phelan - he's feeling rather chipper after escaping  near death at the mill. He also escaped the carnage of Sally's Monday night party!. Gina filled us is in on the off-screen action, including Tracy V Jenny in an arm wrestling competition and Moira painted Sally's patio with wine vomit.

Tim (waiting for the rain to clear it up) is tidying up Sally's post-party, in preparation for some home viewings. However, after Monday nights heroics, Tim's conscience (in saving his arch enemy) is keeping him preoccupied. This leaves Sally to show a bemused Michelle and Carla around number 4, with the latter feigning interest in buying it, just for something to do. Sophie does actually sell her van to Aidan though, so a Conner / Webster transaction is assured, at least.

Over at Roys Rolls, Phelan is taking some time off from the Mill and tells Mona he's quitting the job... as Eileen is ill?. Phelan's newly acquired cocksure attitude may work on Mona, but in enters Tim, unafraid of the murderer's machiavellian misdemeanours and promises Phelan some poetic justice.

Also taking time off, are Ty& Fizz, Chez & Gemma and... Sean. Its mid-week, nobody seems to be working, so they all head to The Bistro!. With Sean seamlessly playing gooseberry, there appears to be romantic tension between Chez, Gemma and a jealous Tyrone?.

As the boxing motif continues, a punchbag is set up in Kevs old garage. With Chezney now also a contender in the boxing match, will the undercard fight see Ty V Chez?.

As the gang talk of their off-spring and share pictures, it's clear that Tyrone has lied to Fizz about Ruby's troublesome behaviour and Gemma clearly knows it.

On the other side of the street, Tim's keeping occupied and is mid shift at street cars. With Eileen at the switchboard, she sends Phelan off to give Tim a thankyou card in his cab. Phelan however, decides to give Tim another gift entirely.

Beguiled by Tim, Phelan admits the Calcutta Street scam.. only to be overheard by Eileen on the taxi intercom.

Is Phelan about to become 'unstuck'?. Maybe he could get in the ring with Tim for the charity boxing match?. That I would be ringside for!

Anyway, that's me done for another week, I'm off to a sparring session with Zeedan.
