Coronation Street Episode Review; Weds 6th Nov 8.30 pm

Paul confronts Josh in the hospital room, having sneaked in, whilst disguised as a janitor/ nurse in full scrubs. I wonder where the outfit came from and how did he sneak past security? I'm also bemused as to how Paul can easily threaten Josh, yet can't confront Kel? I guess the rationale would be that it's not HIS abuser, and I suppose he can be himself with Billy, Josh isn't someone from HIS past. Paul goes full throttle in the hope of changing his mind. Will threats of violence really work?

Beaten by Beth's expensive headstone demands, Ken heads home; defeated and deflated. Confiding in Claudia, she decides they should head to Scotland to bring Daniel home.

The Tinkers/Barlows have been at war for a while, so Beth waving the white flag (and accepting Sinead's simpler funeral plan) is a sigh of relief, from me. Having said that, hasn't Beth been a revelation? Lisa George is proving to be a superb actress!

Talking of fraught families, it's nice to see some sibling closeness from Emma and Amy.  Since finding out they are half-sisters, Emma and Amy have bonded quickly, and Amy admits to her sister that Tyler is back on the scene (got her pregnant, Vicky's son, etc) and is sending her texts. Insisting they are just friends, Emma promises to keep the secret from Steve. Will she do it?

Reinvigorated from her exam, Abi is back on the cider and her closeness with Kevin seems to be rubbing Sally up the wrong way.  Over a pint, Kevin tells Abi that she can stop at his gaff until it boils over. Less swayed by Kev's new loaded status, I think Abi just wants a friend, but as we know, Kev has other ideas. Confronting Sally, Abi, not content with staining Sal's sofa with chilli sauce, she pours pomidoras (Nigella's, no less) all over her head. Was this humourous?

In prison, Imran calls an urgent meeting with David and tells him that Josh Tucker has changed his statement, admitting it was Tez and Abe, after all. Calling Shona to break the good news, David is cornered by Abe. Meanwhile, on hearing the good news, Shona is buoyant and puts the wedding plans back into action. Can David be released within 24 hours, or will they get married in the prison itself?

Later, and after Paul pleads guilty to changing Josh's mind, Billy gives his ex boyf a big hug. Are these two destined to get back together?

Back from the Circus, Gangster Gary (that's what I'm calling him now) also seems to be jovial and clowning around with Maria and the kids. Scaring Johnny in the pub (reminding me of Phelan) Gary gets news from his P.I about Ali's dodgy drug deals at the hospital and makes a decidedly wicked threat.

Is Gary about to unleash some carnage on the cobbles?

Coronation Street Episode Review; Weds 2nd Oct 8.30 pm

Kev's sister Debbie visits Number 13 and is introduced to Paula, not realising that her 'favourite niece' is a lesbian. Why would Sophie's auntie not know that? However, Debbie brings bad news; their auntie has died. It's a jovial mood for death though, as Debbie heads off to the will reading.

In the Hospital room, Bernie confronts Paul about the beating, but Kel lies again, denying it was Paul's fault and hides behind some misguided homophobe 'joke' as the reason for their ruckus.  With the gang out of the way, Kel tells Paul to keep his mouth shut, using the beating as a blackmail tool.

Paul decides its time to leave Weatherfield.

A downhearted Dev sees Asha off on her date and give's her some cash, as he's mislaid his credit card. On the date, things seem to be going well, although the teen lad (I can't remember his name) did have a fleeting flirtation with Amy!

With the boy spilling a drink, Asha's mood changes and she heads for home, having realised that she's seeping blood again. Meeting Mary outside her home, Asha unknowingly drops Dev's credit card, which Mary picks up. Confronting Asha about the spending on his card, will Dev find out what she's been spending it on?

Thanking Maria for the earlier favour, Gary lays on the charm offensive and it looks like an infatuation could be forming. Do we think they'd make a good couple?

Also feeling amorous, Ryan's still looking at ways he can spend alone time with Alya, now that Michelle has put paid to any 'action' he had planned at the flat. Discussing Michelle's mood with Robert, Ali and Ryan discuss a dinner date plan for the couples, in hope of a reconciliation.

Bumping into Summer, Paul remains resolute in his decision to leave the street, so the youngster drags him to see Billy instead. After a heartened confrontation, Paul's mettle seems to weaken and he breaks down in emotion, the vicar promises to do all he can to help.

Is it me, or is Billy being a bit bullish in his approach? Maybe he's trying to recover ground he lost when confronting David Platt about the same thing? I'm kind of torn in that decision at the minute. Some superb acting though, you can't fault that!

At The Rovers, Debbie reveals to Kev that the old dead aunty has left a will worth £200K!. Debbie is well loaded already though and offers the cash to Kev instead. Kev nearly chokes on his pint, so Debbie tells him to think about it.

Interestingly enough, Kev did mention (just a few episodes ago) that he needed to add Jack to his own will, right?

On a side-note, it's great to see Debbie Webster back on the street. I'm too young to remember her original tenure BUT a fantastic actress from Victoria Wood's iconic 'Dinnerladies', which, as we know, was also full of Corrie stalwarts. It's also a nice nod to Classic Corrie which I know is a big thing amongst the Corrie fanbase.

I wonder what Kev will spend the cash on?

Could he invest in the resurrected 'Underworld', becoming the new Mike Baldwin, maybe offering a new clothing line in purple jackets?

Just a thought!

Coronation Street Episode Review; Weds 02 Oct 7.30 pm

Having put Kel in a coma, Paul seems beaten by Billy into some kind of confession /submission thus finding himself at the police station. I thought he was going to confess to the beating, but it appears the vicar wants him to confess about the abuse, instead. Will this mitigate the beating, maybe? I'm confused! Awake from his coma, Kel is faced with questioning from the police (about the beating, not the abuse, keep up). Although he lies to the cops, he still faces interrogation from Bernie.  Put off by confessing all to the police, Paul decides instead to visit Kal in the hospital instead (I'm assuming for drama purposes as that makes no sense?). Gemma is caught in the crossfire as Bernie demands answers from them both.

Also perplexing, is Sophie's decision to quit Speed Daal for a boring college course? Least Kev's in a flirtatious mood though, he's a date with a lady called Martine and jokes to Sophie about carrying a 'spanner' in his pocket. I'm unsure whether this is 'Carry On' Corrie or innuendo bingo?

Less innuendo, more #MeToo, Michelle is feeling the strain of pervy Ray and tells Robert she pulling a sickie,  dreading the prospect of going into work. Later, randy Ryan has a visit from Alya but noticing Michelle's (more mardy than usual) mood, she quickly leaves.

Meanwhile, Asha's deception of Dev continues, as she readies for her date. Dev is perturbed by Asha's teenage behaviour and quizzes Maria, and Sophie, about how to broach the subject. Realising the enormity of that error, he calls Mary instead. I was squirming at that 'birds and the bees' speech, never mind Asha!

Talking of dates, Kev is stood up at The Bistro, but consoled by a visit from Abi. Could there be slow-burning chemistry between boss and employee?

The same cant be said for Gary and Fiz I imagine but I reckon we could have a new name for Coronations Street's antique shop? I'm thinking of 'Redhead Relics'?

I'm SURE you guys can do better than that!

Gary meanwhile, is slightly sidetracked. Following Dev's dubious advice and some chivalrous spending, he's suddenly noticed that Maria (who he has shared the street with for years), is quite attractive! Is Gary about to beat-up Ali, and make Maria his new moll?

Back at the Garage, Abi is confronted by a visitor and mistakenly thinks it's Kevin's late date, but it's not, it's his sister Debbie! (played by the original actress from 1984, no less)

I wonder what she's doing on the street. Any ideas?

Coronation Street Episode Review; Weds 18th Sept 7.30 pm

Bethany's crush on Daniel seems to have become more fervent, even though he's now married, has a baby boy, and is nursing his terminally ill wife. I doubt the infatuation is even on his radar. However, when Bethany bumps into Daniel at the shop, Audrey can't help but notices her granddaughter's keenness for Ken Barlow #2.

Struggling to manage this new workload, Daniel's stress is apparent which Sinead recognises. Will this push a decision on the hospice?

On a visit to her flat, Audrey gives Bethany some welcome advice and a reality check. Maybe footballer James could prove a welcome distraction from Daniel?  With the Bailey boys bonding at the Bistro, waitress Bethany may have an opportunity to find out. Aggie, meanwhile, invites all of the cobbles residents to the party. What will they make of the modern renovations at Number 3?

Affronted by Billy's suspicions of Kel, Paul lays low and Billy continues to be concerned by his ex-boyfriends troubled past. As always, Sean can't help but cause trouble between them and tells Paul that Billy has been asking about him. Sean can't help himself, can he? Not pleased with ruining Eileen's relationship, he's now working on Billy!

Meanwhile, dodgy Derek seems to have taken a shine to Izzy and offers an apology for his drunken stupor. At The Rovers, the supposed 'loaded' Derek struggles for a spare penny towards a pint at the bar. There's no fooling that Jenny Bradley, eh?

Discouraged by Dev's flowers, what will Jenny buy Johnny for their anniversary?

Detoxing from the pills, Ali's 'cold turkey' period is proving torrid. Even one of Roy's famous 'sandwich soliloquy's', as I call them (he hovers before serving, offering advice in his pretentious, yet unknowing way) is lost on the druggy doctor. Ryan sees his reluctance in wanting to attend the support group. Can he get his 'brother' get him the help he needs?

Meanwhile, mad Mary's recent sugar addiction seems to have subsided, which is light relief, unlike Sinead's horrendous chemotherapy side effects.

Will Daniel get distracted by Bethany, after all?
