Coronation Street Episode Review; Weds 26th of Dec 7.30 pm

Welcome to Wednesday's edition of the Coronation Street Blog.

Good old Christmas Day, eh?. A time to settle with the family, watch TV movies and indulge in copious amounts of booze and turkey- joyous festivities!. Unless of course, you live on Coronation Street. Far from a peaceful day; Jenny got drunk and ran over Liz, Mary murdered Morrissey (hilariously) on the karaoke, and Tim finally realised his sister-in-law Gina is a bunny boiler!.

As Boxing day begins, Jenny appears to be missing and a frantic Johnny is looking for his wife.
Upon her return to the pub, Johnny admits to Jenny that he has sacked Liz, and wants to rebuild their marriage.

Over at her flat, Liz is unconscious on the floor after her collapse from the accident. Discovered by Eileen, the ambulance quickly arrives. Seeing Liz being carried into the ambulance, Jenny looks suitably mortified with guilt.

In a critical condition, the hospital informs Eileen that Liz's injuries are consistent with a hit and run.

The Metcalfe family are reunited at HMP Norcross, with Sophie and Tim decided on a campaign to release Sally on appeal. Gina arrives at Speed Daal and is given short shrift by Tim. Kirk's conscience is pricked and he decides that Gina can stay with them until she finds somewhere else to live. 
Meanwhile, Paula admits that the only way Sally can be freed is if Duncan admits his guilt in the fraud.

Speaking of fraud, Lewis is still sniffing around Audrey following her windfall.Returning from holiday, Gail remains suspicious of the charming cad. Archie's money has caused Audrey to reconsider her life though, and announcing an early retirement, she tells David that he's now effectively in charge of the salon.

Realising the trouble she may be in, Jenny leaves Emma in charge of the pub, but it may be too late. Johnny has noticed a bump on the car and a bottle of wine on the driver's seat. Confronting his wife, Jenny admits that she drunkenly ran over Liz on Rosamund Street.

With Tyrone working overtime at the garage, on Johnny's car no less, he hears news of the accident on the radio. It isn't long before the police arrive at The Rovers Return. Johnny decides to take the blame for Jenny, and is arrested!!.

As it's only half hour tonight, I shall be back blogging again next week. What did you think of Christmas on the cobbles?.

Coronation Street Episode Review; Weds 10th of Oct 8.30pm

As promised, here is tonight's second episode review of this Wednesday's Coronation Street.

So, the gruesome twosome have been discovered. Liz's alarmed face contorts to utter shock as Hannah Gilmore reveals the whole sordid affair. With Hannah still clinging to Jim, the fuming Irishman heads out to find his Elizabeth.

As Ryan and Ali weigh up Ronan's wreath giving and gangster tendencies, Michelle decides to meet Ronan at Cormac's wake. Michelle's emotional monologue has little effect on Ronan, it looks like Ryan is getting no recompense from Ronan!.

Will Steve suffer the same fate at the hands of his new wife?.

Revealing a secret honeymoon plan to Tracy, is a reconciliation on the cards for the newlyweds?.

With the evening guests gathering, Jenny (looking gorgeous in red) garners Johnny into the possibility of re-enacting their wedding vows. But with Hannah hanging around, Johnny surveys the wedding reception, and with a nervous energy.

At  Katie's graveside, Liz is visibly fraught and cannot contain her grief. Fraught and enraged with Jim, Liz is emotionally drained upon discovering her ex-husbands macabre plan. Jim tries reasoning with Liz, but it falls on deaf ears, and he falls on the floor.

Back at the reception, Hannah is ready to leave, but not before bumping into Jenny. Decidedly beaten by Jim's ex-wife and a lack of money from Johnny, Hannah is true to her word and reveals Johnny's deception with Liz, to a shocked Jenny!!

What a lot of #SecretsUnleashed in this week's Corrie!. 

In other news- Daniel announces Sinead's pregnancy and Ken discovers emoji's!.


As I am now writing both Wednesday nights episodes, I shall score this week 8/10. Secrets unleashed, cake fights, Leanne in a cupboard, and Kirks doggy ice-lolly dream. Perfection!.

Coronation Street Episode Review; Wednesday 4th of July 2018 7.30pm

Welcome to Wednesday's edition of the Coronation Street Blog, and the first of tonight's two episode reviews.

Swiftly recovering from  recent scheduling shenanigans, tonight's first episode gives a fervent fast-paced mix of innuendo, freezer frolicking, & a welcome dose of Mary.

At the florists, Ken dissuades Tracy's idea of paying for two separate weddings with the offer of a cheap double. Besmirching Ken's fatherly advice, a grumpy Tracy is side-lined by that wonderful juxtaposition at Preston Petals, with Mary on hand to offer a bouquet of flowery quotes. If she isn't causing a 'ding dong in a crematorium' Mary's imagining of Tracy and Sinead as the opposing ends of the 'archetypal modern woman', make me realise how much I miss our Mary, when she isn't on screen.

On opposite ends of the corrie comedy scale, little Jack Webster is in a crucial 24-hour stage of sepsis diagnosis and it seems poor Eccles the dog is suffering from possible sausage poisoning.

Quickly saved by Toyah it seems Eccles is out of the woods, but little Jack is still in danger...

Back to the innuendo then. Over at the Bistro, Robert and Michelle's insatiable appetite for 'afternoon delight' continues. As Ryan's mental capacity is tested by  'air sampling', the Bistro newbie later sees the freezer door open.Thinking his tormentors are inside, he seizes an opportunity. Unfortunately, he doesn't realise that his 'mum/ pretend mum' is inside said freezer, enjoying some sexy desserts from Robert!.

Will the cold air cool the passions of this saucy couple?.

Meanwhile, coaxing Bethany on a date, it seems the recent heatwave is affecting most of  the Coronations Streets residents libido, as Ryan's t-shirt is also swiftly off. Bethany however, isn't all too keen.

In other news,  David starts community service and proposes to Shona, whilst Beth & Kirks factory espionage continues...

What a scorcher!!.. might jump in a freezer myself now.

Coronation Street Episode Review; Weds 18th of April 2018 7.30pm

Welcome to Wednesday's edition of the Coronation Street Blog and the first of tonights two episode reviews.

Distraught at being caught in her recent tryst with Ali, Carla is frantically trying to contact Michelle.
Concerned with Michelle's sudden bruising (caused by Roberts steroid addiction), will Carla 'park' her relationship with Ali to seek her former best friends forgiveness?.

It's another quasi-incestuous 'family affair' no doubt, and we've quite a few of those on the street recently!

The Nazir/Habeeb/ Connor 'Ménage à trois' ( that's Moira's French influence), continues to cause more drama. 

With Rana and Kate looking to embark on a fresh start, can the return of Rana's mother and a sudden serious family illness, cause the star-crossed lovers further heartache?. Saira certainly causes Rana to ask fast and before you can say 'speed daal' a plane ticket to Pakistan is booked...

On the other side of Coronation Street, Eileen remains wallowing in self-pity, until Nicola pays her a visit. Trusting in Eileen's innocence, Nicola promises to keep a frail Eileen close to Phelan's grandchild's life. But as budding journo Daniel Osbournes case against Phelan builds, will it do more harm than good?.

Coronation Street Episode Review; Weds 4th of April 2018 7.30pm

Welcome to Wednesday's edition of the Coronation Street Blog and the first of tonights two episodes.

Clueless about Phelan's messiah-like recovery, an unsuspecting Eileen is still incarcerated in Weatherfield cop shop and facing further questioning.
Upon confirmation of Andy's dead body at the mill, Eileen realises that Andy was last seen alive on the day of her wedding.

The police now need to search Andys old flat, but with Craig facing self-imprisonment due to his burgeoning OCD, will this stop the police from entering?

Also facing a self-enforced prison (albeit metaphorical) is David Platt. His anguish following the sexual assault is now becoming hard to contain. Waking on the sofa, he continues to blow hot and cold with Shona, yet also subtly confides in Maria about a possible HIV test. Masquerading as Gary Windass, David visits the sexual health clinic but as he almost wittingly confesses the 'unprotected sex' to the nurse, he panics and flees.

Returning home, he finds Shona packing her bags. David again ferociously embraces her, before discarding her post-coital. He unconvincingly declares that he doesn't love her anymore and that they are through.

In the juxtaposition of Corrie's usual tradition, the more serious of tonights drama (Murder, OCD, SEX) sat nicely alongside Dev's new chip shop adventures, Rosie and Sophie's 'selfie gate',  plus Chezney dressed as a haddock (he's always been a wet fish - just ask Sinead). And over at the Rovers, Angie relishes her new accountancy role but Jude seems a bit fishy in his new marine biologist job?.As always, Mary's wonderful enthusiasm keeps this story ticking along nicely. But, Just WHATT is Jude thinking not letting Mary meet his new employers?.
