Sean Wilson quits Corrie before filming Gail's leaving scenes

News in today from The Sun is that Martin Platt actor Sean Wilson has left Coronation Street before filming any scenes.

Not only that, but the scenes planned to be filmed with Helen Worth, who plays Gail Platt, have had to be rewritten and her leaving storyline is being changed.

The Sun reports that Sean was called to ITV chiefs' office for a meeting then didn't return to the set.

ITV haven't commented on this yet but if and when they do, we'll give more info when we can. All the info at the moment is that Sean left for 'personal reasons'.

According to digital spy, his scenes have been filmed but they won't now be broadcast.
I wonder what's happened there, then?
Something must have gone badly wrong, because it was splashed all over the media that Martin Platt was going to be a major part of Gail's exit story line.
They were obviously going to re- unite and run off into the sunset together (In other words, emigrate to New Zealand).
I was looking forward to seeing Martin Platt again as well!
I wonder if they will re- connect Gail with an old flame she met in Thailand (that no- one knew about) and she goes there to join him - and marry him - instead.
That'd be the easy option.
But in a way, it'd be cheating the viewer. Yet at this late stage, the Corrie team have to dream up something along those lines quickly if they don't want kill Gail off.

Oh no - HUGE disappointment on my part, as he has always been one of my favourite characters, and I thought that was a perfect "good-bye" for Helen Worth.
