Coronation Street Episode Review Monday 12th August

Coronation Street spoilers see Nick and Toyah drama, double return and special episode - Mirror Online

Weatherfield General have met the 62 day target to start cancer treatment and Toyah's in hospital for her op, although Leanne leaves her sister with a cheery "good luck today". Cold, Leanne, cold. Nick goes with Toyah to the hospital and waits for her. There are complications as Toyah has internal bleeding, which is enough to make Leanne rush to the hospital to apologise to her sedated sister and also enough for Nick to fall back in love with his fiancee.

I am glad, though, that despite the complications this is going to be a cancer survivor story, given that Alma, Hayley and Sinead all died - only Hope pulled through, not that we ever see her go to the hospital for blood tests. Indeed, you'd think that Fiz or Tyrone might have used that as an excuse for Hope's bad behaviour over the years (incidentally, I though she was being quite responsible going to Dr Gadass for contraception, considering the high rate of teenage pregnancy on t'cobbles).

Leanne introduces the Institute's Financial advisor (advice: invest in the Institute) to Amy, but Aadi is more circumspect and talks her out of it. I can't see Ken being very happy about Gramma Deirdre's dough going to a cult either.

Coronation Street Soap Scoop! Toyah is blackmailed

Steve invites Cassie on what she thinks is a date, not knowing that he's already on a date with Demi. I thought Demi'd binned him off, but whatevs, I'm glad to see her back. I'm more perturbed by his order in Roy's Rolls: toad in the hole with mashed potato and gravy. It's August, Steve! This is salad season. Steve reveals that Cassie's real afternoon companion is Ken and the hot date is actually quite cold - it's on a picnic blanket in the park. I imagine these two are going to get together just as Tracy comes back but I would like to see some of the other will they/won't they couples (Mary and Brian, Amy and Aadi) get it on as well.

Kit is moving into the Rovers, much to Glenda and Jenny's glee (although I think his actual romantic target may be Daisy). He seems interested in overhearing all the local gossip - he should just ask Beth - but less interested in dinner en famille chez Paul and Billy.

And finally, Tyrone wants to do a DNA test on Dorin to see if he actually is his child. He waits 'til Alina is in the shower and gets busy with the cotton bud, to Alina's disgust. Also Fiz's, who finds out from the aforementioned pub gossip. She goes to see Alina at the hotel to advocate on behalf of Tyrone and Alina says she will stay for a couple more weeks.

And Hope finally mentioned her own cancer. Nothing to do with Dorin (what a cute kid). Except that terminally ill children are often treated to holidays I suppose.

Well done Aadi. His business knowledge meant he could ask all the right questions. Pity he didn't ask for the financial advisor's credentials, as she was clearly employed by the Institute. With Leanne seeming to come to her senses too, this is the beginning of the end for Rowan. But he must be exposed, not written out.
Are we supposed to believe that Ken, with his mobility problems, sat on a blanket in the park?!
As predicted, Cassie and Steve will get together just as Tracey returns next week.
