Coronation Street Episode Review Bank Holiday Monday 26th August

NICK - TOYAH - CORONATION STREET - ITV

Nick buys Toyah a croissant for their last supper breakfast before Leanne and Sam return from Simon's undisclosed location. I hope he's remembers she's vegan, there's nothing like unwanted dairy to put a downer on an illicit affair (Toyah should at least try to get some enhanced sick leave out of this). Given that the Dorin story is a carbon copy of the Nick 'n' Sam story, it's not surprising that Sam turns up - ten hours early as Leanne wanted to surprise her fiancé - although she presumably didn't want to surprise him in bed with her sister.

Fortunately, Leanne is less interested in that than skipping level 7 and moving onto 8 by running Amy's upload session. She notices that Rowan records it, which I'm assuming is going to come into play later on. Amy is now very invested in investing Gramma Deirdre's money in the new resource centre (which is probably going to be the community centre on the corner, isn't it) and persuades/cons Ken into releasing her trust fund. Thought Ken's investigative journalism gland might kick in, but no. Hopefully his recent premium bond win isn't going to be invested into this shonky pyramid scheme as well.

Tyrone delegates looking after Dorin to his underage daughters since a garage doesn't really pass safeguarding protocols for a 2 year old. I presume Alina is either going to die at the hands of the gangsters or run off to one of the other 26 EU member states that she's entitled to live in, unlike us Brits. Anyroad, I think Fizrone needs to be looking at nurseries.

DYLAN - MASON - BETSY - NINA - CORONATION STREET - ITV

Not looking at any kind of educational establishment is Dylan, who is determined to become a NEET. He's horrified that semi-reformed Rusholme Ruffian Mason wants to make enough money at Speed Daal to rent a place on the street. But he's not going to do that if he keeps turning up late to his shift, seduced by chocolate milkshake princess Betsy - not into teen sex but bunking off.

KIT - SID - CORONATION STREET - ITV

Instead of trying to mend bridges with Kirkeh, Beth goes to the precinct to get some money from Sid, the t-shirt seller. He's flogging them from the back of a van? How does that make serious moolah? I can't imagine punters paying more than a fiver - I assumed they were going to be sent to Dubai or something. Anyway, she films Kit taking his cut and later threatens him, which I don't expect is going to go very well for Beth, even though she only wants £400 to keep schtum. Best take that job in Norfolk, Bethy!

Rachel Stevenson - on bluesky
