Corrie legend Barbara Knox delights at Manchester Pride

"I've never been here before...but I'd like to come again!"

Barbara Knox, already an icon, cemented herself as an ally and friend to the LGBTQ+ community on Sunday as she made a very special appearance at Manchester Pride. Accompanied by drag queen and local media star Belinda Scandal, as well as Deputy Lord Lieutenant and friend to many on the cobbles past and present Mark Llewellin, Barbara delivered an emotional speech about persisting with acting early on in her career, waiting a decade before being called back to play Rita after a short stint where she expected her big break.

Saying that working on Corrie for so long was "wonderful because of people like you" referring to the army of queer fans known for being a bedrock of the Coronation Street fandom, Barbara delighted the crowd at the Alan Turing stage in Sackville Park in Manchester's gay village. And she ended on a song - "We'll Meet Again". Magical. A Queen among Queens.

And YourMcr.com have promised an exclusive interview with Barbara from the event. Check their social media for updates.

Happy pride to all.
