MAX REALISES WHAT GRIFF IS PLANNING Maria, Alya, Yasmeen, Daryan, Stu and Gary set up the stalls at the Peace Market. Having been told by Griff and the gang that the Speed Daal van is now at the bottom of the canal Max is concerned when he sees it back on Victoria Street. When Lauren takes a call from her Dad, warning her to steer well away from the market today, a worried Max reckons they should call the police and warn people. Will they be in time? After a successful operation, Spider regains consciousness. Toyah assures him that she’ll learn to put up with the dangers of his job as she can’t live without him.
GEMMA STAGES A SCHOOL PROTEST Gemma and Bernie call at the school to confront Joseph’s teacher, Mrs York. When she is totally dismissive of Joseph’s BSL skills, a furious Gemma and Bernie stage a sit-in in a classroom, demanding that the school teach BSL to all their pupils. Michael is horrified to find himself locked in with them and explains that he only called in to discuss Glory’s start date at nursery. Back on the street news of the protest reaches Chesney as the residents tune in to Gemma’s live stream. Mrs York locks the classroom door and announces that Gemma, Bernie and Michael can stay in there all night.
DAMON ARRANGES A NEW SUPPLIER FOR THE BISTRO Damon offers Jacob a full time job at the bistro on double the money he’s getting at the factory. Jacob hands his notice in to Carla who warns him he’s making a mistake. Damon tells Nick if he injects he will tell Leanne everything. But when Damon tells Jacob he needs him to take delivery of a package Jacob starts to regret his decision.
ELSEWHERE Jenny returns from the hospital with Teddy in tow and helps him into the pub. Stephen watches in despair. Brian enters the café to find Roy listening to classical music via his new smartphone. Roy reluctantly admits that it does have its uses.

Wasn't the 'peace festival' basically the Xmas market but with brightly coloured bunting scattered about?
The teacher locking Gemma, Bernie, and Michael in is false imprisonment and she could be charged with that, as it's an offence.
I would have thought a teacher would have known that!
Maria had already explained this. She came up with the idea of changing the Christmas markets to the peace markets as the stalls were already up etc. This was done with the hope of raising funds for the community centre
@Sharon Boothroyd, absolutely right about the false imprisonment. They could have got out of the classroom by ringing the police or getting Chesney/Dev to find the school caretaker. But, of course, that would be so boring with no opportunity for livestreaming. Can't believe a teacher would send Joseph home because he used BSL in the playground. My friends and I did the basic finger spelling as a playground game and that was a million years ago! Shame when the issue is being dealt with in school by offering BSL classes but Corrie has to go over the top with the storyline.
They clearly want to make good use of the market set!
Gemma has a point in that Joseph shouldn't be penalised for USING BSL, but to demand that all pupils be taught it is unreasonable. However, when Aled does start nursery it would be helpful for his teacher and classmates to learn some. In real life I believe a classroom assistant/ BSL interpreter would be provided.
The special effects unit is clearly on a tight budget now, that bomb was so tame
Humpty Dumpy, you'd be surprised. I am deaf and use sign language myself and you'd be very surprised how audist people are. I've gotten into trouble for signing but not as bad as my parents who had to get their hand strapped by a belt or a stick for signing. Things are much better now, but teachers panics when they do not understand what is going on or being said. Mrs York, as explained on the show has been around since the 90s, so I wouldn't be surprised if she still has the 90s mentality. I, for one, am very glad that they highlight this, especially when BSL for GSCE is being put forward to the parliament!
I was employed by a school to teach three classes and teachers sign language before two deaf students arrived. Initially, I was contract to teach for seven weeks. But to the teachers' surprise, kids absolutely love it and so they brought me back for one full year. Deaf kids felt included and is happy that they did not have to rely on interpreter all the time. Imagine having to talk with your class peers via interpreters, kids wouldn't think you are cool and you'd end up having no friends. Beside, learning BSL isn't a bad thing! It would benefit people a lot in their life.

I used to work in a nightclub (very loud) and had issues as a child. I have trouble hearing out of one ear and have become pretty good at reading lips (sometimes the mistakes are funny, sometimes not)...but it can be lonely and frustrating to ask people to repeat themselves, or worse, to pretend to understand what is being said. I can only imagine hearing nothing and how lonely I'd feel.
While I think the storyline for the evening was a bit much, I admire the actors who are learning BSL as a result of their parts and sharing with everyone else.
As it is now Friday and there's no review of this episode, shall I assume that no blogger wants the job of reviewing this dreadful "drama"? Was this the climax of the Max-being-radicalised storyline? If so, it was abysmal. I had been hanging on to see what was going to happen to him, but if this is the conclusion then I am seriously disappointed. Alya driving the bomb ridden van away was beyond ridiculous.
I think I will be going the way of Scott and Kelly.
Serious question, does anyone know who we could complain to about the way Corrie is going? When I see posts on FB about the programme, there are so many comments that it's rubbish now etc etc. Rather than just vent on here, I would like to tell the people in charge exactly what I think!
Considering that a few months ago,Toyah lied in court and enlisted Griff to destroy Saira's[Imram's mum]car[he was going to bomb ]I don't think she is in any position to judge Max who is a mixed up teenager and Nick's nephew.
Well Louby, I love the soap.
It's the only one we watch.
Yes, there are flaws (I'd love to see a GP quickly, be referred for tests the very next day, have the tests and then get the results, all in 3 days like Daisy did!).
But I still enjoy watching the drama and whether you like it or not, it is a drama that entertains millions of people every single week.
Corrie was the only soap that was broadcast throughout the pandemic, giving the nation a much needed distraction from the awful crisis - and that to me, wasn't such a bad thing.
If you don't enjoy watching it, why bother to comment here?
The production team at Corrie probably receive complaints - but so do the other soaps.
(I expect even the BBC radio 4 soap, The Archers, receive complaints).
In contrast, there will be thousands in appreciation of Corrie.
Tony Warren had a vision of showing the stories behind closed doors, of families living on a Manchester terraced street, and they have done their best to stick to that vison.
