No Corrie return for Karen McDonald

Suranne Jones, who played the suberb Karen McDonald, has said she'll "probably not" be returning to Coronation Street for the 50th anniversary next year.

In an interview with Holy Soap Suranne said: "I speak to Simon (Gregson) all the time and on my phone. It comes up as Steve McDonald! I miss the people that I was friends with but I don't think Karen will be coming back." However, earlier this year, Suranne was quoted as saying she'd been offered a Corrie spin-off DVD.

Karen was great in her time but I wouldnt want to see her back again. Suranne Jones doesnt need the work either (unlike some other departed characters).

I loved Steve and Karen together but yes, sometimes there's no going back really. Even the possibility of Curly returning as has been thrown about, doesn't thrill me. He used to be one of my favourite characters but there really isn't much for him anymore. He should have been there for Vera's funeral (obviously the actor wasn't available) but barring that, what is there for him?
