Coronation Street Episode Review Monday 8th May

Sarah and Damon - Coronation Street - ITV

The good guys dress in black - remember that - apart from Sarah and Damon, who are shady as heck. Sarah earwigs Deedee's conversation in Roy's, specifically about how Damon defended someone he doesn't know very well (Paul) and got smacked for his efforts, and she rushes straight around to the Bistro to show him just how sorry she was for doubting him. Any old excuse, Sarah-Lou!

Leanne and Nick, not averse to a bit of back room shenanigans themselves, wander in as they need Damon's signature or something and the saucy twosome are almost caught. Deedee, who has the eye of a tiger, spots Sarah's bag on the chair and hides it from Adam. Maybe she should have let him see it so we can move on from Sarah looking alternatively angry then doe-eyed straight through to the Who's the daddy? storyline.

Royal Family: King Charles' forgotten cameo in Coronation ...

Meanwhile Aggie, who has a new jazzy wig to commemorate the coronation, and Ed try to name all of the Commonwealth countries. Isn't this a storyline from Friends? (they don't mention the countries that are contemplating becoming republics). Owen approaches Jenny, but following Stephen's "advice", she's as cold as ice. Stephen didn't even have to get busy with the hole punch to split those two up!

Coronation Street's Max Turner in love with Daniel Osbourne as romance twist unveiled? | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV | Express.co.uk

Given a choice between Ken's mung bean surprise and Jenny's prawn ring, Daniel decamps to the pub where he finds a video from Max on his phone (that mysteriously reappeared) much like when U2 dropped their album onto everyone's iPhones (as an aside: I wouldn't have thought Daniel's future lies in the STC given that a) he doesn't really like teenage boys and b) he doesn't really seem to like teaching). Max says he's not coping in the unit. Danny-boy refuses to let David watch the vid.

I'm sure everyone's fave Coronation line was Evelyn spitting the Jonathan Harvey's line "What do you put before anything else - your prawn ring?" but my top bit was when Dirk took off his plastic union jack hat in awkward reverence and pressed it against his chest as Jenny Bradley mentioned the late queen. No, not Betty Turpin, QE2.

Someone else who prefers to talk to someone he doesn't know very well is Ryan as he chats away to  "Crystal" a.k.a Daisy. She;s only gaslighting him in a good way! What if Ryan were to say something along the lines of "That Daisy's a right minging cow"? He doesn't but he does have an agoraphobic attack when he tries go to an outpatient appointment. Talking of storylines that have been done before, Beth gets it into her head that the factory is going to outsource production, although Stephen claims not.

My final word on the coronation is not mine, but from SeanInBrum:

Fab post Rachel.
I'm not sure if Aggie is wearing a wig - maybe it's her own hair?
Keeping with the Bailey's, I'm fascinated by Dee Dee's coats.
Has anyone noticed that she has quite an assortment?
The latest one is pale grey.
The one before that was a striped brown and orange - before that, it was a black and white affair.
She also has coats that are bright red, green and yellow.
I'm wondering what colour the next one is going to be!

I am loving the arrival of DeeDee and her colourful wardrobe! I am saddened that she got saddled with Paul though. I liked him at first but his first go to is always crime and keeping stuff to himself. If you can't open up to your signifigant other who can you open up to?
