Mollie Gallagher interview: Romance for Nina & Asha

How has Nina and Asha’s friendship blossomed?

Their friendship started a while back when Nina stood up for Asha when she went through her sexting ordeal.

What makes their friendship work?

Nina is so free and I don’t think Asha has ever known anyone like that. When Asha met Nina I think she was wowed because Nina is so different and maybe someone that Asha wishes she was a bit more like in terms of Nina’s ‘don’t care’ attitude.

What is Nina’s reaction to Asha dumping Corey?

She is impressed that Asha has done what she should have done and that she is starting to realise her own worth. Asha does it in such a strong way and tends to not always believe in herself so this surprises Nina and makes her see Asha in a different way.

Tell us what happens between Asha and Nina

From Nina’s point of view, that moment came out of the blue. Nina’s feelings for Asha have been a slow development and at first she was just always being a good friend. Nina is a passionate person and does things with a lot of detail but in the beginning, she was just being nice and friendly and wanting to help and be there for Asha. But over time their friendship has become stronger and it has developed into this point.

Do you think Nina and Asha are a good match?

Yes, because they are quite different so they are two really good characters that can learn from each other. It is a really nice match.

Dev does his best to make Nina feel welcome. How does Nina deal with people judging her?

Nina does tend to act unfazed by things like that but internally she does have moments where things get to her. I do think she has a hard outer shell and she does like who she is and that overrides what anybody else thinks of her because she is so content with who she is.

I really liked Asha having a slightly older friend to look out for her. Why does it have to be more?

My thoughts exactly. Why can't they keep it that way and just have them being friends?

I agree. I liked them as friends too, it worked fine. I don't know why it needs to turn into yet another gay romance.
They'll have Asha sleeping with Tracey next!
