Jack P Shepherd interview: Oh, to be a Platt!

There’s never a dull moment in the life of David Platt and this season it’s no different. Following son Max’s confession to the murder of Joel Deering, dad David has been plagued by questions and what ifs as he tries to help his son. Discovering that it was in fact Lauren who delivered the killer blow, David risked his relationship with Max, who was desperate to protect his girlfriend, by handing the evidence to the police. Will Max still face repercussions for his part in the attack, will they be left holding the baby as Lauren faces a life sentence and can David repair the damage to their father/son relationship?

On top of this David has also been fielding calls from Weatherfield Prison, as Shona’s evil son Clayton, who murdered David’s ex Kylie, tries to contact his mum. Determined to do everything to stop Shona from discovering that Clayton wanted contact, Max visited Clayton to warn him off himself. But when Clayton tried to kill himself, Shona was alerted. It’s a ticking time bomb, as David is well aware of, and when Shona learns of his deception, his life is set to implode once more. David’s taken his eye off the ball, will he find out just how far he’s pushed his wife when she sleeps with Kit?!

Meanwhile the Platt household has been rocked once more by the arrival of Jesse, Gail’s impending wedding and Damon’s missing money. With Gail threatening to sell the house and move away, Harvey breathing down their necks and his marriage on the rocks, just how long can David hold it all together before something snaps!

Will Gail and Jesse’s announcement that they are getting married be the FINAL straw for David?

Oh to be a Platt!

Utter nonsense. No way will Lauren get a life sentence. She stopped Joel from killing Max! Also he'd terrorised her for months so the defence can argue that "the balance of her mind was disturbed."
David's behaviour with Clayton and Shona was appalling and he deserves to lose her. But Shona sleeping with Kit who she barely knows was completely out of character. A big mistake from the writers.

Feel sure that Shona and Kit is a red herring. More likely, Kit found Shona in a compromising situation. Naturally, Shona keeps the packet of morning-after pills in her handbag where they are likely to be found. Just like those times when characters leave pregnancy test kits in the bathroom bin.
