Shona is playing a dangerous game. Not sleeping with Kit, but talking about it in the cafe. The Street runs on gossip, everyone knows that. I was quite pleased though that "Who Slept With Shona" was solved by the end of Friday's ep, and it didn't roll on for too long. I guess Shona is the only one tall enough not to have to stand on a box to snog Kit - apart from Eileen and that'd be an age gap to rival Gail and Jesse's. Also, props to Shona as she took the morning after pill (although bad on Kit for not having any contraception in the flat) given that 99% of Weatherfield one night stands ends in pregnancy
It's great that Julia Goulding has a storyline, the first one since the brain injury (?) rather than being a tertiary character in other people's storylines and the disagreement with David over Clayton feels organic rather than shoehorned in. Shona has a choice between the sleeping on the sofa and sleeping with Kit, so she chooses the latter, although she doesn't go through with it, leaving him alone in the hotel and returning to no. 8 with a broken arm that she lies about to David.
There's drama on the literal cobbles as Bertie runs out in front of Debbie's new new car (the old new one is at Webster's) leading to a Debbie-Daniel barney, followed by more beef with the Platt-Osbornes as Jenny has "borrowed" a sort of Edwardian mourning blouse from Daisy, which is actually Bethany's. No disrespect to Dame Jenny Bradley but I'm not sure she'd fit into one of Bethany's tops. As we all remember, Daniel gave to Daisy Bethany's more revealing clothes to look after. Bethany is unimpressed and rows with her boyfriend. Daniel then gets into his third argument of the evening (and it's only the first half of the episode) as he bickers with Kev in the pub about how he should, or should not, talk to sisters. In his drunken state (does Daniel even turn up to the STC anymore?), Daniel manages to see Kevin rather foolishly leaving the keys to Debbie's old new car on top of the tyre, steals them, TWOCs the car and crashes it (off screen). Oh, Danny boy, the cops, the cops are calling. Debbie, though, blames Sarah and complains about her to Kit, who looks at CCTV footage and sees Daisy driving it away.
Roy has bought Dame Maureen an early Xmas gift, a backgammon set. She is very pleased with it until she takes it to the pub, where Steve spills Newton & Ridley on it, and Evelyn starts a new feud. Just in time for Xmas!
It's Deedee's first scan, but she doesn't turn up to it, even though Sarah volunteers to go with her. You'd think she could talk to her mum, even if Aggie is in Birmingham and never coming back. Sarah drops hints to Michael and then she and he go round to Deedee's where she, mistaking them for intruders, almost attacks them. You'd think she's be a bit more careful after the Joel/crowbar incident. Sarah forces Deedee to confess the pregnancy to her bro, although Deedee has decided on a termination, but we'll see, shall we.
And finally, line of the night from Evelyn: "I'd rather not say a lot of things, but I say them - out of friendship".
