Spider Nugent's coming back to Coronation Street and he'll be on screen in July.
Martin Hancock will resume the role as Spider, Emily’s eco-warrior nephew.
As the on/off boyfriend of Toyah Battersby, Spider left Coronation Street in 2003, when he headed to London to start afresh with Toyah. They later separated with Spider moving to Peru, while after a failed marriage Toyah returned to be with her family in 2016.
With life having moved on, has Spider held on to the ideals of his youth and has he come back for one final attempt to rekindle his love with Toyah or is it something else that brings him back to the street?
Coronation Street producer Iain Macleod explained: “Martin is a fabulous actor and Spider is a character with real heritage, and affection from fans. His return heralds an enthralling new story for Toyah, who will be embroiled in a mess of guilt and secrecy when Spider arrives. Will he be her saviour or the thing that ruins her life forever?”
This fan only hopes Spider will put a smile on Toyah's face, something that's been woefully missing since Toyah's much-heralded return to the soap years ago.
And as the world's number one Spider fan (it's official) I'm overjoyed to have him back.

This is superb news! Toyah hasn't really been herself since she came back in 2016, so hopefully Spider's return will make her a bit more lively.

Good news. Hope Toyah leaves with Spider. Georgia Taylor was busy between Corrie stints so I doubt she wants to stay forever.
I know I'm in the minority but I'm not looking forward to Spider's return.
He was nothing but a troublemaker when he was on the Street and was always sponging off 'Aunty Em'.
I doubt Spider is returning to be with Toyah,more likely he needs money again from Emily!
There are so many characters on the Street already some of whom are rarely featured in storylines and yet Spider is brought back for another storyline for Toyah?!

I think this is great news, I just hope his return won't be under a cloud of some dark secret like when Zeedan came back.
This could be the news I’ve been waiting for to persuade me the press the red button again! I’ve had a five-month sabbatical, sustained by the wit and wisdom if these updates, but Spider may actually lure me back.
I was so excited to read this, I've been hoping for a Spider return. Will be interesting to see if the character has changed with age or if he is still a committed eco warrior. Hopefully he will put a smile on Toyah's face and liven her up a bit. It will be good for her to have a happier storyline rather than the non stop misery she's had since her return.
Spider Nugent...problem is when they bring these former great characters back...the writing is not the same. (of course not) It was the same when Sharon returned and it was soooo campy...or Debbie...underused in my opinion.
Toyah & Spider...he really was her muse wasnt't he...she chased him, caught him...and we don't really know much more beyond that..Juice bar?
Could be fun if the writers do their homework..
...and..Bonus...we might find out what Emily's been up to.
May start watching again, always liked spider, shame he will be surround by all the dross we get on the show now. I wonder if he will be back to announce auntie em’s death
