News just in from the cobbles to the blog is that Alison King, who plays Carla Connor, is going to return from maternity leave earlier than expected. She'll start filming in July and we'll see her on screen in the autumn. But will Carla's return be enough to save Maria from Tony's evil clutches? We'll have to wait and see.

Is Carla the new Elsie Tanner? I'm offended that a true Corrie-esque like your goodself even dares ask such a question. Each character is a character within their own right, there'll never be another Elsie, she was a one off, unique. There'll never be another Elsie, Hilda, Annie, Ena, etc!
Ah, but Ado, the headline grabs attention, you see :-)
Whoop! Glad Alison's coming back early (Carla's my fave character). Though I'm sure it will be hard juggling motherhood & work as an actor. We're a little behind with Corrie here in NZ, so Carla hasn't as yet left our screens!
She's coming back from maternity leave just before Samia Smith (Maria) goes off on hers.
YAY, i'm so looking forward to her coming back. I've missed her whilst she's been away. My favourite Corrie character :)
I'm looking forward to her return too, more than I thought I would be.
