Much is made - and rightly so - when an actor of repute not usually known for their work in soap turns up and does a guest stint on the Street, like this one did.
But what about having a guest writer for a week or an episode? And if it happened, who would you want to pen dialogue for your favourite Corrie characters? For this Corrie fan, I'd love to have an Alan Bennett episode with a sprinkling of lines for the likes of Rita and Liz.
Or maybe there should be a guest director once in a while. Could Corrie tempt Quentin Tarantino to direct Blanche in her very own Kill Ken routine wearing a yellow catsuit, one of Uncle Albert's old eye-patches and a samurai sword off the market?

I think Alan Bennett is a brilliant idea. How about Victoria Wood? Or Paul Abbott, Russell T. Davis (again), Alan Ayckbourne, Mike Leigh? Or best of all Tony Warren.
I'm not sure that guest writers would really fit in to the way they make corrie, having to produce 5 episodes a week. But maybe if they could do it as an extra episode or as a bubble.
I love the idea of Tony Warren writing a one-off episode, possibly for the 50th anniversary too.
... greetings, all.
... upon reading this post, the first name that came to mind was Maeve Binchy ... would that she be able to act as a guest writer for a spell for I love the way that she weaves characters/life journeys together in her novels ... and she is a big Corrie fan in the bargain!
... that being said, I also concur with Sunny Jim and Flaming Nora ... love the idea of Tony Warren an'all!
