Coronation Street Episode Review; Weds 25th of April 2018 7.30pm

Welcome to Wednesday's edition of the Coronation Street Blog and the first of tonight's two episode reviews!.

Beginning at number 8, David's dramatic demise continues. Following his afternoon dalliance with ditzy trainee Emma, he decides to ask her to move in!. Much to Gail's dismay, David relishes in the drama, recognising his own blatantly unpredictable behaviour. It isn't long before Shona hears the news, and fails to mask her devastation.

Recovering from his recent stint in Christian rehab, a rejuvenated Billy looks forward to his new life with Summer. Seeking extra cash for unpaid rent owed to Tracy, Billy tries to see if any shifts are going at Roy's Rolls, even begging Adam for any unpaid wages of Todd's, but to no avail. Just as it seems salvation is on Billy's side with part-time chip shop shifts, Tracy finds out about his 'heroin holiday' and decides to evict them instead!!.

Narrowly avoiding eviction from 'Speed Daal', Zeedan is saved by Rana as Imran decides to invest in the Pakistani street food restaurant.

Over lunch with the Connors, Rana is accepted swiftly into the family which does little to allay her own feelings about the Habeeb clan. Kate also appears to be jealous about Imran's investment.

In other news, Aidan has discovered Summers secret crush on him, Mike asks Liz  on another date, and Angie decides to 'grow the figures' with a book-keeping gig at the florists!.

Anyway, that's me done for another week. Keep an eye out for tonight's 8.30pm episode review written by @glenn_writer

What Would YOU Rename Preston's Petals?

Last week on Coronation Street, Tracy pondered changing the name of her florist shop from Preston's Petals. Mary mused over this and even Amy added to the conversation too.

I do wonder if she will change the name. I've never liked it, personally.  For me, it should never have been an homage to Robert, but that's Tracy for you. Also, it reminds me of Zuzu's Petals from the film It's A Wonderful Life.

If Tracy was to rename her florist shop, what would you like it to be called - Barlow's Blooms, perhaps or as our blogger Llifon once suggested, Barlow's Bouquets (which sounds a lot like Barlow's Bookies, which Peter used to run!)

Morrissey's back pocket

I enjoyed Mary's Morrissey reference in last night's Corrie when describing some wilted gladdies in Preston's Petals.

Flowers were part of The Smiths' visual aesthetic and the shrubbery most commonly associated with the group was the gladiolus or 'sword lily'. Morrissey has said that this particular type of flower "leapt out" at him and "seemed really powerful".

Morrissey favoured the larger variety, which he would often wield above his head on stage. However, tired of carrying them around with him during gigs, by 1984 Moz had moved his gladdies to his back jean pocket in order to free his hands.

This explains Mary's brilliant quip to Tracy: "Have you seen these gladdies? I mean talk about wilted. They'd be fresher if they'd been sitting in Morrissey's back pocket these past 30 years!"

A superb touch by Corrie writer Mark Wadlow! For more on the two-way relationship between Coronation Street and Morrissey, be sure to check out my blog from a few years ago, still available here. Oh Manchester, so much to answer for...

Preston's Petals - what do you think of Tracy's florist shop name?

The big reveal came last night on Coronation Street.  It was a moment I'd been waiting for, for a long time. No, it didn't involve a car crash. There were no explosions. No-one died. No celebrity joined in a cameo role.

It was the big reveal of the name of Tracy's flower shop, a subject that has had us on the end of our seats (or at least a blog post) for a few weeks.  I've loved the suspense.  If ITV can keep the name of Tracy's flower shop such a secret for such a long time, I do wish they'd do the same with the big spoilers too.

So, what do you think of Tracy's florist shop being called Preston's Petals?

The shop is sponsored by Interflora, in a deal worth a rumoured £1m for 12 months.  Will Preston's Petals branch out and grow?

ITV have missed a trick, I feel, with Tracy's florist shop.  The frontage of her shop last night proudly declared the website address of www.prestonspetals.co.uk.  Click on it, go on. Nothing (yet?). Just an empty site with a domain name they must have paid for.  Not even a link or a auto-bounce to itv.com/corrie
