Reece Dinsdale announces Coronation Street return

This has got me rather puzzled.

Reece Dinsdale, who played Gail's husband Joe McIntyre, has announced he's returning to Coronation Street. Here's where he said it and what he said:

Now then, cast your mind back. Joe's body was found and he was buried. So is Reece coming back as another character, or as Joe McIntyre, back from the dead, ready to scam Gail again? Hmmm... I wonder.

Reece works as a director as well as an actor these days, I believe he directed some Emmerdale previously, so it looks like he's directing Corrie now.

Surely Reece Dinsdale is returning as a different character? Perhaps as Sam's father?
To bring him back as Joe Mcintyre is ridiculous especially since the Platts have been in too many storylines.
Who's next to rise from the dead Richard Hillman?!

Joe really didn't scam Gail...he tried to do an insurance scam and got hit on the head and drowned.

People come back from the dead all of the time, so it wouldn't surprise me.

Look at that American Soap with Stefano DeMara...that guy was like an alley cat!

Nick is Sam's dad

Definitely as a director, if he has to make a lot of decisions.

I read online that he will be behind the scenes. So presumably directing.

He's confirmed on Twitter he's coming back as a director, not a character.

Good, hope he is a director, not an actor. I despised his character on Emmerdale.
