Coronation Street Episode Review Monday 21st March

ADAM - SARAH - CORONATION STREET - ITV

I am hoping for a culmination of the Sarah-Adam-Lydia love-liar triangle at some point because even though I do like Adam stomping around, glowering and shouting "Sirrah! Sirrah!" a lot, it's becoming a bit boring. I do wonder why TPTB gave Lydia a pre-teen child when she first arrived on t'cobbles - was it so she would bond with Sarah over being a mum? I assumed it was because Adam was gonna be the baby-daddy of the invisible child, but maybe an intern did the maths and realised he couldn't be unless Lydia gestated like an elephant. But it turns out that he made her have an abortion back when they were students, leading her to drop out of Uni.

Anyhoo, Adam is re-invited to Harry's 6th birthday party and also for coffee, but only for Sarah to tell him she wants a divorce. Bitter, and I don't mean Roy's cappuccino. He sends Lydia a text from Sarah's phone and meets up with her in a shopping centre and tries to record their conversation, but she soon cottons on and deletes the recording. She runs off with his phone, he follows her and she drops his phone over the balcony and Adam soon follows as Lydia gives him a great big shove and then escapes. At least Daniel wasn't at the top of the stairs this time.

AMY - ITV - CORONATION STREET

Amy, being the child of two business-people, draws up a budget to give to Kimono Ken, to show how she could live on her trust fund if Ken would release Gramma Deirdre's money. Ken is all in, but Steve begs him to reconsider and Ken then reneges on the deal.

In revenge, Amy gets a job in the kebab shop, to Steve's consternation, who points out to Dev that Jacob used to sling drugs along with the chips and saveloys in For Your Fries Only and Dev sacks her, although Tracy then gives her a job at the florist. Isn't this just a repeat of the Asha-Corey storyline of last year? Except that Jay-kub is a reformed character (for now). I wonder if anyone ever told Amy that her mum sold her to Roy and Hayley and that she was called Patience for a period of time? Because that would be a good weapon to ambush her parents with.

LAURA - KELLY - GARY - ITV - CORONATION STREET

The decent PI (not Kenny/Lenny) comes up with some info about Rick and his dodgy dealings and how Gary paid for the wheelchair of one of Rick's victims. Meanwhile, Laura is drowning her sorrows by downing her morphine medication with several glasses of pinot grigio in the pub. Gary helps Laura home and she flirts with him.

In the meantime, Maria has nominated Kelly for Trainee Stylist Of The Year at the North West Hairdressing Awards Of The Year, which is definitely a thing that exists.

PHILL - MARIA - KIRK - ITV - CORONATION STREET

Phi(l), after making sure that the rumpus over Hope kidnapping Joseph has calmed down, re-emerges to give Maria some confidential info about the council's quashing of an environmental report about the new bypass. Maria passes this onto the Weathy Gazette but Bernard Barnes overhears Phil(l) and Maria celebrating. Hmm, I wonder if this might backfire at any point? I'm #TeamDerrenLitten in this election at any rate.
