Conversation Street Podcast Episode #508

On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street shown in the UK between the 31st January and the 2nd February (Episodes #10550 - 10555).

This week's Corrie seemed to be a competition between Daniel and Craig to find out who most deserves to be fired from their jobs for misconduct. On the one hand, you have the English teacher with a history of acting inappropriately around a girl in his class (albeit partly through his own naivety) now pushing another of his pupils down the stairs and lying about it to the police. On the other, you have Officer Tinker, already well known for spilling the beans about cases he's working on to all and sundry, now keeping his girlfriend's confession about her involvement in a man's death a secret, and tampering with evidence at the crime scene. Fire the pair of them, we say! Also this week, Asha's newfound passion for the giddy world of risk management takes her on a perilous trip north of the border (or at least it would have done if Nina hadn't been having a breakdown about the dangers of rail travel), Audrey and Rita seem to get confused about when the Queen's jubilee celebrations should be taking place, and Kelly continues her ascent to sainthood by helping Liam count to ten in French.

In The Kabin, we chat about Sally Dynevor's latest performance on Dancing on Ice and celebrate her getting her MBE from Princess Anne this week, then we round off the show with a couple of bits of listener feedback.

This week's bonus podcast was The Bobbins Awards 2021. We love Corrie, we really do, but even we can admit there are times when it gets things wrong. The Bobbins Awards are are annual celebration of all things awful in Weatherfield, be it characters who failed to make a good impression on us, moments that had us scratching our heads, or stories we just wish had got no further than the storyliners' brainstorming sessions. In this year's edition, we take a tongue in cheek look back at the very worst that Corrie had to offer in 2021. It's all in good fun, of course, so please do take it as such, and if you've got any dishonourable mentions of your own you'd like to mention, do write in to let us know!
