FAQ: What song was Carla Connor listening to?

Questions have been oozing through the email today asking what the song was that Carla Connor was listening to when Liam came round to snog her on Coronation Street this week.

The song was The Drugs Don't Work by The Verve. You can listen to it all on Youtube, but be sure to wipe your mascara off first.

FAQ: Can I visit the Coronation Street Set?

It's a sad word but it's the only answer we can give to this question: No.

However, if you are planning a visit to Manchester have a look here for details

FAQ: Can I visit the Street set?

In what I will try to make a regular blog post, time permitting, I'm going to try my best to answer the frequently asked questions I'm asked, er, frequently by email by readers of the Coronation Street Weekly Updates.

Number one on the list of things which Corrie fans like to know is whether the Coronation Street set is still open to the public. The answer, I'm afraid, is no.

Full details are on corrie.net

FAQ: Where can I buy a coat like Maria's?

Finally, I'm able to answer one of the very Frequently Asked Questions to the blog. Hurrah! Yes, in answer to the oft asked: Where can I buy a coat like Maria's? I'm finally able to give the answer.

Maria's coat is from Vila and there's two for sale on eBay right now. I don't know if the coat has deep pockets, but you'll need to have them - as these coats don't come cheap.

FAQ: When does Danny Baldwin return to Corrie?

Questions are flying into the blog (well, I've had one or two enquiries) asking when Danny Baldwin is returning to Coronation Street. I have it on good authority that he'll be back this summer. How do I know? It says so on Bradley Walsh's website right here.

FAQ: How far behind is the show in Canada?

One of the frequently asked questions that's coming through at the minute is how far behind the episodes being show in Canada are.

I asked my Canadian Corrie counterpart and she's advised that Canada is approx. nine months behind the episodes shown in the UK. However, this will slip again by another couple of weeks when CBC starts to show the Summer Olympics.

FAQ: Who is Ryan Thomas' brother?

Questions are coming in to the blog asking if Adam Thomas who plays Donte Charles in the BBC's Waterloo Road is the brother of Ryan Thomas who plays Jason Grimshaw in Coronation Street. I can confirm after some er, extensive online research (aka having a Google) that yes, Adam is indeed Ryan's younger brother.

FAQ: Where did Liam and Maria get married?

One of the most recent questions to be asked is about the location of Liam and Maria's wedding.

The location used was Arley Hall and Gardens in Cheshire. The location has also been used for at least another two of Coronation Street's weddings - those of Karen and Steve McDonald and Mike and Linda Baldwin.

More Corrie filming locations here.

FAQ: Where can I buy clothes worn on Coronation Street?

Now then, if I had a penny for each time I've been asked this question, I'd have, well, I'd have a lot of pennies. This is by far the most common question I'm asked - where can fans buy clothes like the ones worn on Coronation Street?

Whether it's Maria's frocks, Carla's coats or that black necklace which Liz McDonald wears, it seems there's enough curiosity out there for fans to want to wear the same thing. Anyone want to buy Maria's weddng scarab? Mind you, no one ever emails to ask where the wardrobe department shop for Janice Battersby's clothes. Can't think why.

Anyway, the only thing I can suggest is for fans to contact ITV in Manchester direct. The contact details are here and sometimes cast cast-offs are sold on eBay too.

FAQ: The first baby born in the Rovers Return?

Was Violet's the first Coronation Street baby to be born in the Rovers Return?

By 'eck it was good. With Sean supporting Violet's head and Marcus the midwife at the business end, there was screaming, hyperventilating, panting and groaning. And Violet did much the same too.

FAQ: How can I become an extra on Coronation Street?

So, you want to be on Corrie? I'm emailed often by people wanting to find out how they can become an extra on Coronation Street.

To be honest, I don't know. And while there's no guarantee that this website could lead you to become an extra on Coronation Street, if you'd like to know more about auditions, casting calls and other entertainment opportunities on telly in the UK, then it just might be worth a look. You could also contact the Janet Howe casting agency too.

FAQ: Where has Hayley Cropper been in real life?

With the return of Hayley Cropper to Coronation Street on Monday 17th November, emails are coming in asking where the actress who plays Hayley, Julie Hesmondhalgh, has been in real life for a whole year. The answer, my friends, is that Julie wanted to spend more time with her family and was allowed the time away from the Street.

There's a video interview with Julie on the official Corrie site and pictures of Hayley's return too.

FAQ: Where did Les Battersby go?

For some odd reason, I've had a few emails asking where Les Battersby's gone. As far as I can remember, and do correct me if I'm wrong, Les went off to be a roadie with an Irish ZZ Top tribute band called ZZ Top O' The Morning.

And if this story is true then not only will actor Bruce Jones not be returning to Corrie but Les Battersby won't ever return too.

FAQ: The song Hayley and Anna danced to in Corrie

I've had quite a few emails asking what song Anna Windass and Hayley Cropper were dancing to at Becky's hen night in Coronation Street. The song was Matrimony by Gilbert O'Sullivan.
You can listen to it here on YouTube.

FAQ: How can I contact the people at Coronation Street?

Here's the answer to another one of the frequently asked questions I'm asked by email a lot. Many Coronation Street fans want to know how they can get in contact with the people at Coronation Street. Whether it's to request a photo of a cast member, to send a comment about a current storyline, to pitch a script or ask about charity link-ups, the only contact details I know about are those on the Granada Media website for the Manchester production offices. The details are on the website right here. However, if anyone knows more relevant contact details, do please email to let me know and I'll update this post to ensure fans are given the correct information.
