Hello again. A Friday episode so I am back on duty. We tie up one long running story tonight in that Will told the truth in the last episode. The jury are taking time over their deliberations but before long we are all back in court for the verdict. Ollie keeps an eye on Will and his mental 'elf whilst waiting for the outcome. Inevitably having found her guilty on the lesser charge she is also found guilty of the more serious charge relating to being in a position of authority. Megan instantly loses it, proclaims her innocence and has to be removed from the court as she screams at all of the Driscoll family and then she has a go at her solicitor advocate, Adam, who obviously does not like his client very much. She will serve two thirds of her five year sentence which unlike a real court was handed down the same day.
Speed Dahl's suppliers are delivering poor veg but more importantly Leanne is not answering calls from Idris following his interference with her phone to prevent Sam getting hold of her. Last time round Alya warned Leanne off and now Alya is suggesting he needs a second chance, then she realises that Idris does not say sorry. Later Mary delivers flowers for Leanne and reckons she has the second best job in the world to which Alya asks what is the best job - Mary answers "Ben Shepherd's PA". The card merely says Idris. Leanne might text him in the next three hours. So apology accepted.
In Roy's Rolls, Abi lives at Flat Four, The Precinct, Peel Street, Weatherfield and it seems her landlord is giving her the runaround. She is on the phone for ninth time in two weeks and the flat is damp and has a weird smell. Leanne sympathises about poor landlords (she has probably had a few) and suggests withholding rent - but Abi {whom we have not seen for weeks} cannot afford to be homeless with Alfeh. There is a leak in the gully and it has been botched before but now needs repairing properly. She does not even know the landlord's name. Abi goes and passes Nick and Toyah as they come in. Leanne confirms she is going to see Sam and Nick asks if she will put in a good word for him. When she gets to Sam she does put in a word for Nick and calls Sam "mad" as in angry which he points out is not exactly the best word to use in a mental health unit. Sam forgives Nick and the lad accepts he is not better yet and needs to be properly better before he comes home. Leanne is accepting Idris's apology , then tells him about her three children. Idris's phone rings as Abi descends the stairs into Street Dahl. Idris does manage to apologise to Leanne and answers his phone to his very angry tenant who now knows who her scumbag landlord is.
Ty is having a difficult day so he and Fiz arrange Cassie to childsit and will have an evening in the pub. Ruby and Hope are up to no good - they are doing something on their phone intended to cheer up Ty so Cassie leaves them to it and joins Ty and Fiz in the Rovers. She will be back in time for Dorin at 7. No doubt the "good" thing they are doing will be capable of more than one interpretation. Maggie accuses Lauren of having a resting miserable face as I assume the normal term was not permitted. To be honest Lauren rarely seems to like working and I have no idea where she is living as I thought Abi took her flat.
We close in a very wet, mould infested flat where Alfie is coughing like a trooper smoking 500 a day and Abi is only just holding it together - this is more like a typical Manchester back street story and we already know the guilty party. I hope it shames all landlords into ensuring they do the right thing.
The schedules for next Friday are telling me that there will be an hour long episode so if right I will be back then. I think we are also near the end of the Sam story for now - the news that Megan was a proven liar has helped and he knows was is real now and when he is not in control so I am not sure there is much more of that story either.
