Coronation Street Episode Review Thursday 25 June 2026

Well I remain confused.  It seems that because of round objects we are on soap starvation diet at present and so I thought I would write up what I believe to have been Wednesday and Thursday episodes which have been scrunched together on Thursday evening.  Following the revelation that Sarah attacked Theo with a pole and left him lying in the yard before summoning Gary to help stay out of the arms of the police (well obviously not Kit's arms because Sarah knows he was going to propose and now she is just waiting for it to happen and then she can fall into his arms) probably about 5 minutes before Lisa comes knocking.  Meanwhile Kit (who "knows" that it is Gary wot dunnit) has an argument with Gary in front of Todd.  Gary hardly striving to contain himself advises Todd, once Kit has gone, that it is a shame Kit cannot see what is under his own nose.  Some weeks seconds later Todd's brain kicks into gear and he goes in search of Sarah-Lou as she is definitely under Kit's nose.  

Susie gets to talk to Megan on the console and she calmly reports that Will has a new girlfriend "Minimog16" so we have the inevitable scene when one of the known killers on the Street, Maggie, tears his headphones off to find he is innocently chatting to Hope.  Will realises that he cannot keep the pretence going so meets Megan on the top of Buffy Street car park where she begs him not to send her to jail.  He asks her bluntly how her attempt to run away demonstrated her love for his and walks away from her.

Asha is supported by her family over moving into the flat above the shop.  Nina is finding it impossible to tell Roy as it is Scrabble Thursday; last week Nina scored 16 with cinnamony.  Luckily when Roy pops into the Kabin Bernie is trying to buy a new home card which allows her and Brian to break the news that Nina is planning to fly the coop.  Inevitably Roy takes it well and finds a lovely train teapot (out of stock at the NRM shop) as a new home present.  Summer goes into overdrive spending a fortune on an espresso coffee machine, and a toaster and a slushie machine (as well as some designer clothes for herself) to get them settled in.  They forsake the standard new house celebration of fish, chips and champagne for dinner in the Bistro and another random diner invites them out for a night clubbing but only Summer accepts.

Jodie got herself all dressed up for a hot date which turned out to be Ryan and as David was sat at the Bistro bar she went into overdrive mode inventing the word dunch to cover a meal happening midway between lunch and dinner.  It cannot matters help that Amy Barlow is waitress of the day!  Ryan paid up and summed it up that perhaps they were better as mates living around the corner from each other than anything more.  Crossing Jodie is not the brightest move on the chessboard.  

So Todd's brain kicked into overdrive and he went for a chat with Sarah who cracks completely and tells him about Theo's last moments and the way she aided his attempt at learning to fly.  Todd is insistent on knowing why she did not ring him conveniently forgetting that his phone was in a skip at the time.  Todd is upset with Sarah as it meant that Todd was unable to face Theo himself.  We then spend half the episode wondering if Todd is going to turn Sarah into the police - but of course he can't do that given their history with Todd moping around facing the same conundrum.  At this rate everyone bar Kit and Lisa will know the killer soon.  Sarah has another drinking session in the Rovers and Nick is given little help to rescue her.  Todd and Sarah have a chat in the Rovers yard and he admits he cannot turn her in, but at the moment he does not like her very much.  

Once Nick gets Sarah back to the Platt house Jodie makes coffee to help Sarah to sober up as the tills have stopped working in the Bistro and Nick has to go in..  However Jodie then says it is good that David is not barking like he was on the night that Sarah was attacked - her being there must be so triggering.  Sarah agrees it is a good David is not barking.  Jodie suddenly realises she has said something it would have been wiser not to say.

Episode Review Friday 1 May 2026

Good evening.  I remind you that it is still Thursday of last week and Carla's wedding day which has now had 7 outings.  We open with Todd running away from Theo who cannot be bothered to chase him as he knows where he is at all times thanks to the watch which Todd wears.  Theo only wants to talk to him.  Todd manages to disappear down the ginnel under the flats at the precinct, removes the watch and lobs it into the children's playground where Theo eventually finds it.  Todd phones George from a call box (there is one?) on Inkerman Street and Christine collects him and thereafter he is safe at number 11.  However George assures Todd that Theo will never hurt him again and Christina notices that George's red top is NOT the same top that he was wearing earlier and he is decidedly shifty when she asks him about it.

Shona has come back to the Street as she forgot her phone which she cannot find and then she heads to the hospital to see Harper.  

Elsewhere Maggie has Megan by the throat at the top of the stairs up to the flats and at the bottom of the stairs is Will who gets to hear that Megan had an abortion of his / Daniel's child - Will has still not given the game away.  Megan and Maggie stop fighting and Will argues with his grandmother.  He is pretty vile to Maggie in the precinct.  

Jodie's surprise visitor was not the strange men - but was Lily who wants an explanation as to why Jodie is going - but she gets very little other than a promise that she will come back one day.  Jodie lets herself back into Number 8 as she goes looking for cash and her treasures which she needs to take with her.  Once she finds some cash she also sets about trashing the place, cutting her hand on some glass and leaving blood around the place.  Jodie is about to go when Sarah comes in as she had heard David the dog yapping.  Jodie applies blunt force to Sarah's head.  Why does nobody turn the lights on?  For some reason Shona returns to find her phone followed  by David and an ambulance is summoned and they go to hospital where David just about deletes a voicemail message from Jodie about their earlier encounter and how she knocked him back.  Shona guesses that the men who were looking for Jodie earlier must have returned and Sarah walked in on them.

Summer has let herself into Theo's flat above the Dev's shop which has the scaffolding outside.  She finds Todd's phone which he had left behind when Theo enters the flat as well and throws the phone out of the window.  She asks if Theo has done something to Todd but does not get an answer.  Theo then says that Summer had to end sometime.  

Ronnie has that Carl in the back of his car and gets a voice message from Debbie asking him to tell her when she gets right doolally about the good which Carl did (might not take long) and that he was always the apple of her eye.  This makes Ronnie change his mind and we gather that Carl is dumped outside the Emergency Department and Ronnie is later seen cleaning the car of all potential evidence.  However Carl is then in a bad way and his life is hanging in the balance as they start chest compressions.  

The three witches Sisters, Eva, Toyah and Leanne are all invited to assist the police with their enquiries into the abduction and incarceration of Megan but at the time Toyah finally arrives it seems that Kit has heard some other news on the grape vine and will not be pursuing them - although we are not told what he now knows.  Sam is in hiding and having a meltdown.  

Once back at the Rovers Eva cannot find Maggie but two women find her lying in Victoria Gardens and it is time to summon another ambulance.  She does not look at all well.

Betsy was not carrying any ID so could not get in anywhere in town and stumbles out of the tram station with Lauren following.  Somehow later they manage to get to be outside Dev's shop (as Lauren had helped herself to the last wine at the wedding reception) at which point Lauren decides she needs to relieve herself and goes into the ginnel and Betsy stumbles into the yard at the back of the shop.  She eventually screams. It looks like Theo has been ended.

There was a lot in the episode - Betsy remarked that heels and cobbles are incompatible.  Lily is having something going on which was not clear to me with phone calls being made.  Sam is in meltdown and on his own.  David the dog was particularly yappy at the comings and goings.  I think the three "sisters" were released because Will finally told all to the police, but I might be wrong.  No doubt the answers to many of the questions raised in tonight's episode will be answered in the coming months.  For holiday reasons I am not going to be here for the next three Fridays - have a lot of fun in my absence.

Episode Review Friday 20 March 2026

Apologies for not being here for a couple of weeks - one week Coronation Street was not here and then last week I was in Warwickshire and not at home.  Normality returns.  To get a less than favourite story out of the way Theo drugged Todd ahead of his fund raising marathon run tomorrow and turned off his alarms and put his phone on flight mode leaving him to sleep off the drugging on the sofa.  If you know anyone like Theo get them away from your nearest and dearest or if it is your partner then run a few thousand miles.

Megan is utterly convincing (well Daniel fell for it as he points out to Kit under interview he was wrongly accused not so long ago) in pretending that she was simply responding to Will's excessive crush and Will also holds his end up well (which is probably what she first saw in him) with Maggie.  Leanne, on top of her game, has spotted that Megan in her enforced departure from the flat left behind some vitamin supplements you normally take when pregnant and it is concluded that she lied about the abortion.  Tracy is convinced that Megan is guilty even without evidence.  Alya lets slip that Megan has also been bullying Sam according to Leanne which starts to change the balance of opinion but Daniel knows there is no evidence.  Despite Daniel's insistence that he KNOWS, Ken wants to know the facts (well you would if you were about to become a grandfather again wouldn't you?).  Maggie gives Sam a piece of her mind for not speaking up sooner about Megan abusing Will but then Maggie knew that something drove Will to assault Daniel in the ginnel.  Maggie accuses Sam of keeping quiet to improve his grades (in PE - who cares?).  

Megan tells Kit that after the problem Daniel experienced when Daisy was pregnant with Kit's baby (but told it was Daniel's) meant that she was not yet in a position to tell Daniel that she was pregnant and that she sees no need for a DNA test to prove who is the father of the unborn baby as the only person she has slept with in the last year is Daniel.  

Adam is aware of the allegation of paternity but cannot tell Daniel about the baby.  Eva feels no such compunction and tells Daniel that he may or may not be the father in front of the entire cafe (with Alex re-appearing from the cupboard of unused characters an American wrestling tour as a spectator for a very brief  cameo.  Talking of go to cameos Susie came into the cafe with Eva announcing in a fairly loud voice she was gasping and needed an extra shot in her drink and then remembering she was bursting and had to visit the facilities rapidly.  So just before the mid-episode break the scales are about to fall from Daniel's eyes!

However Megan is on top of things, she briefs Will about the baby being Daniel's and provides him with a burner phone so they can stay in touch.  Apparently Megan does not want to go to prison and Will is certain it will not come to that.  Daniel confronts Megan at the Chariot Square Hotel (how is Debbie by the way?),  Megan lies but Daniel says he is not believing her until she does a DNA test.  Indeed on the list of people he is at the top until she does the test!

The Battersby sisters are on top form this evening coming into Speed Dahl and telling Alya what they think of Adam being Megan's brief.  Alya claims they need the work.  Leanne announces that they are now silent partners in the Speed Dahl business.  Alya herself does not actually seem to entirely believe Megan to be fair but is tarred with Adam's choice.  (Given that I assume Megan is on legal aid Adam's earnings cannot be that great).

For reasons which are not hard to guess Adam gets fairly cool (zero degrees Kelvin) welcome at the Rovers Return.  Adam claims he simply wants a quiet drink.  He does not get it.  Daniel comes storming

through the door, pokes Adam in the chest and tells him to drop Megan as a client now.  After a toilet break for Adam Daniel continues his attack announcing to the entire Rovers in classic Corrie mode that Megan is refusing the DNA test and he tells Maggie he believes the baby to be Will's.  Shocked looks between James and Michael (all emerging from that cupboard) Bailey as they note she is pregnant by a schoolkid!  Lauren is upset by finally finding out what Ollie was keeping from her and stomps into the back room.  Adam continues to assert that everyone deserves a fair trial.  Adam and Daniel argue with Adam reminding Daniel he slept with the slapper.  Tracy asks if Daniel is going to put up with that.  Maggie tells them that as she does not want blood on her soft furnishings could they please take their dispute outside.  Daniel tells the Driscolls that he does not blame Will for attacking him as he was being groomed by a paedophile.  Maggie has had enough of her family's dirty washing being aired in public and orders them out of the Rovers.  Adam goes.  Tracy takes Daniel home.  Maggie announces the show is over.  

When I came to put fingers to keyboard I obviously need to check the writer and was not surprised that Jonathan Harvey was responsible.  He has been a writer since 2004 I believe and with the Megan storyline tonight he was able to give the performers in front of us those wonderful touches - Susie needing a shot, Alex returning from a wrestling tour, Battersbys at their best and of course a denouement in the Rovers plus the 180 degree volte face from Daniel, not forgetting a key cameo from Ken.  With the right material the entire team can deliver and tonight was class from everyone.  Thank you to the entire team for that episode.
