Coronation Street Episode Review Thursday 25 June 2026

Well I remain confused.  It seems that because of round objects we are on soap starvation diet at present and so I thought I would write up what I believe to have been Wednesday and Thursday episodes which have been scrunched together on Thursday evening.  Following the revelation that Sarah attacked Theo with a pole and left him lying in the yard before summoning Gary to help stay out of the arms of the police (well obviously not Kit's arms because Sarah knows he was going to propose and now she is just waiting for it to happen and then she can fall into his arms) probably about 5 minutes before Lisa comes knocking.  Meanwhile Kit (who "knows" that it is Gary wot dunnit) has an argument with Gary in front of Todd.  Gary hardly striving to contain himself advises Todd, once Kit has gone, that it is a shame Kit cannot see what is under his own nose.  Some weeks seconds later Todd's brain kicks into gear and he goes in search of Sarah-Lou as she is definitely under Kit's nose.  

Susie gets to talk to Megan on the console and she calmly reports that Will has a new girlfriend "Minimog16" so we have the inevitable scene when one of the known killers on the Street, Maggie, tears his headphones off to find he is innocently chatting to Hope.  Will realises that he cannot keep the pretence going so meets Megan on the top of Buffy Street car park where she begs him not to send her to jail.  He asks her bluntly how her attempt to run away demonstrated her love for his and walks away from her.

Asha is supported by her family over moving into the flat above the shop.  Nina is finding it impossible to tell Roy as it is Scrabble Thursday; last week Nina scored 16 with cinnamony.  Luckily when Roy pops into the Kabin Bernie is trying to buy a new home card which allows her and Brian to break the news that Nina is planning to fly the coop.  Inevitably Roy takes it well and finds a lovely train teapot (out of stock at the NRM shop) as a new home present.  Summer goes into overdrive spending a fortune on an espresso coffee machine, and a toaster and a slushie machine (as well as some designer clothes for herself) to get them settled in.  They forsake the standard new house celebration of fish, chips and champagne for dinner in the Bistro and another random diner invites them out for a night clubbing but only Summer accepts.

Jodie got herself all dressed up for a hot date which turned out to be Ryan and as David was sat at the Bistro bar she went into overdrive mode inventing the word dunch to cover a meal happening midway between lunch and dinner.  It cannot matters help that Amy Barlow is waitress of the day!  Ryan paid up and summed it up that perhaps they were better as mates living around the corner from each other than anything more.  Crossing Jodie is not the brightest move on the chessboard.  

So Todd's brain kicked into overdrive and he went for a chat with Sarah who cracks completely and tells him about Theo's last moments and the way she aided his attempt at learning to fly.  Todd is insistent on knowing why she did not ring him conveniently forgetting that his phone was in a skip at the time.  Todd is upset with Sarah as it meant that Todd was unable to face Theo himself.  We then spend half the episode wondering if Todd is going to turn Sarah into the police - but of course he can't do that given their history with Todd moping around facing the same conundrum.  At this rate everyone bar Kit and Lisa will know the killer soon.  Sarah has another drinking session in the Rovers and Nick is given little help to rescue her.  Todd and Sarah have a chat in the Rovers yard and he admits he cannot turn her in, but at the moment he does not like her very much.  

Once Nick gets Sarah back to the Platt house Jodie makes coffee to help Sarah to sober up as the tills have stopped working in the Bistro and Nick has to go in..  However Jodie then says it is good that David is not barking like he was on the night that Sarah was attacked - her being there must be so triggering.  Sarah agrees it is a good David is not barking.  Jodie suddenly realises she has said something it would have been wiser not to say.

Episode Review Friday 30 January 2026

Bernie emerges from Weatherfield Emergency Department whilst Dev, Asha and Gemma are all worrying about where she has spent the night.  She seems in no hurry to tell them anything deleting the missed calls and unanswered messages. Given that it is Brody's birthday her absence is raising huge concern.  

Gemma lets Roy know that Bernie will not be in and Ryan sat at a table tells her that he saw Bernie last night in the Chariot Square Hotel in one of the rooms with a man and possibly with drugs.  Bernie arrives home and refuses to explain to Dev.  However Gemma challenges her mother but Bernie does not have time for her interrogations.  Gemma is not happy.  

At the party Kit thanks Tim for giving Brody and the girls a proper home.  Tim thanks Kit for getting a games console in the house!  Bernie eventually arrives at the party where Dev can hardly contain his pending nuclear explosion.  Brody finally admits that perhaps he now has family.  

Over at worst nightmare flat Theo opens Todd's post to find he has been missing payments on his £7k credit card debt.  Theo is of the opinion that Todd needs help managing his money and suggests that as they are together they should have a joint account and it will all be quite simple for them to share.  Todd can do little other than accept.  

Todd decides to invest in his relationship by buying steaks for dinner which Theo castigates as waste and identifies that Todd does not grasp the real value of money to which he has a solution.  They should both rely on cash and only cash (not to be recommended around here as the pubs have gone cashless in the main) and then when they spend something they can see they are handing over twenty pound notes rather than just going tap, tap with a card.  Within seconds Theo has improved his thinking further and asks Todd for his cards so that he can cut them up - which he promptly does although we do not see him cutting up his own cards.  

Until the joint account is set up Todd should hand over the internet banking details of his current account and Theo can manage that as well and Todd merely has to ask if he wants some cash and Theo will simply hand it over as it will make it all so much easier for them to control their expenditure.  Todd cannot think of any reason to deny Theo and hands over control.

The electrics in the flat above Roy's Rolls are playing up and he has asked a website for an electrician.  The electrician when he arrives apologetically is the man who thumped Roy and spent the evening with Bernie at the Chariot Square.  Mal has his electrician tools to prove who he is.  

After he has attended to the electrics he reveals that he has left Alice whom Roy and Mal agree has treated them like a pair of fools.  Mal is not going back to Inverness - he has found he can get work in Weatherfield through the website so can stay in the area.  Roy offers to help Mal as he feels responsible.  There is an intermittent wiring fault and Roy offers to pay Mal in advance for the work providing he starts as soon as possible.  They shake hands on it.

Abi arrives at the garage with a morning coffee and discovers Kev sleeping in the back seat of a car under repair and no-one is answering the persistently ringing phone.  He hangs up on the caller as Abi tells him she has come to see about the roof.  Kev is not in a good mood and he tells her not to worry about him, although he is clearly falling apart.  He shouts at her to go.  

Debbie is practicing for prison - sleeping on the floor, drinking skimmed milk and peeling potatoes and is surprised when Abi advises her that she will get full fat milk inside.  Abi tells her about the state that Kevin is in and that he needs help.  Abi thinks Kev might be depressed (really?).  Debbie says she will go and see him in the morning before she goes to prison.  Abi reminds Debbie that she managed to get out of prison in one piece so Debbie can.  Debbie, right now can manage, she is worried that the Debbie she will be by the time she emerges will be different.

Bernie leaves the party to put some recycling in the right bin when Gemma chases after her.  Bernie explains that she misses Paul and that most of the time she is in control, but last night she had a wobble as she could not cope.  She tells Gemma that she wants to forget last night ever happened.  Gemma goes back to the party and coming in the other direction is Mal - the dodgy man she was with last night.  After a chat Mal appears to agree he will say nothing about last night.  However he hopes there might be a next time.  Bernie tells him she is married and does not want to see him again.  He will however be working locally so they will see each other again.  

If you know Todd or anyone else who has handed over control of their finances be worried, be very worried.  If I were Mal I think I might be buying a lottery ticket this weekend.  A job, money in advance and freedom, Weatherfield is miraculous.

Episode Review Friday 21 November 2025

//Warning I do not like this story.//  Theo brings home a huge selection of pastries and talks Todd into eating them.  Once Todd is full Theo suggests that perhaps they should go for a run as they have nothing else to do and quite reasonably Todd declines which annoys Theo who goes off for his run being joined by James, although Todd has a change of heart Theo tells him not to bother.  James suggests that Theo should sign up for the forthcoming Weatherfield Half Marathon.  Theo returns from his run and shames Todd into joining him on another run but Theo is already going at high speed and Todd is cold so on their return Todd looks completely shell shocked whilst Theo warmly announces he has signed Todd up for the Half Marathon as well so that they can raise money for MND charity and after all Todd does not want a spare tyre round his middle.

Tracy winds up her best friend Abi who responds by socking her one in the bar.  Eva immediately bans them both.  Outside Abi has a breakdown and tells Tracy why she is wound up over Kev wanting Alfie.  Tracy marches around to Kev who is having a bad day.  He wanted another poker session but no-one was willing to join him for the evening so he suggests to Jack that they have an evening together and he then finds out that Jack has made other plans to spend the evening with his mates at the precinct (he has mates?).  Tracy gives Kev a piece of her mind over Alfie and Kev admits that he would not have gone through with it.  Tracy and Abi return to the Rovers and Maggie unbans them so Eva (who Maggie says does not have people skills) goes on her break.  This is bad news for Sean, Izzy, Sarah and Kirk who were all waiting for round two between Tracy and Abi, with Sean likening it to a pound shop Vardy vs Rooney confrontation.

Roy's correspondence with three prisoners now seems to have been extended to the mother of one of them who thanks Roy for his activities.  This leads Roy to thinking of a small book exchange point in the cafe which Ed provides the book stand and Brian arranges the various books.  Categorising Jack Kerouac's "On the Road" as either fiction or a travel book leads to a disagreement between Roy and Brian who insists it is about travel but Roy asserts it is a novel.  The book moves back and forth.  

It is Lisa's birthday and Carla has a special day planned out.  Becky is able to ruin it before it starts as she knows that Lisa is keen on tulips whilst Carla has roses.  It gets silly when  WPC Davies turns up at the factory to invite Carla to attend the police station as there have been allegations of fraud within the factory.  Once at the station Carla is made to wait but eventually Kit says she can go.  Carla is convinced the allegations were made by Becky and is just about to get her hands around Becky's throat when Lisa appears to inform them both that the complaint was made by an ex-client of Underworld.  Eli Merton who accused Sarah of sexual harassment so Carla spread rumours about him and he was exacting his revenge.  Carla admits she had lunch with a mate of Eli's and she did slag him off a lot.  Even Carla has to admit it made her look Una Thurman in Kill Bill.  Carla later returns home with dirty burgers for dinner and she and Lisa make up as Lisa has told Becky to leave them alone.  

And in other news Kirk has decided to start a podcast on dog training where he answers queries about separation anxiety, barking, pulling on the lead.  A pet food company could sponsor it.  Ryan thinks it is a good idea.  

Finally Abi is able to look forward to a future with Carl and Alfie and Alfie wants a long soak in a bubble bath this evening.  Carl phones Germany, apparently speaks to an old mate who is happy to offer him somewhere to stay until he can get his own place.  Carl makes it clear he will be travelling on his own, so I assume the prospect of a life with Abi and Alfie does not appeal to him.  Poor Debbie.

If we avoid talking about Todd and Theo (and Becky's existence) then we mainly have the stories of people in the back streets of Weatherfield having a set to in the local which provides for sparring between strong women - Maggie/Eva and Abi/Tracy; some gentle comedy from Royston and Brian plus Ryan and Kirk (I think the podcast will be a winner).  Please will someone (Sarah preferably) talk some sense into Todd before he suffers any more.  I will not be here next week as I hope to be in Paphos.  All being well I plan to be back the following Friday and it will be December and it is all downhill.  Also tomorrow I am off to see Paddington in the fur - so very very excited.
