Corrie fans vote for their favourite Street icon

In The Coronation Street Blog Oggies Awards 2010, we asked fans to vote for the thing, person, item, place, which screams these three words: Coronation Street Icon

The Rovers Return was voted your number one Corrie icon, with a massive 40% of the vote.

And yes, that's our bloggers Sunny Jim and Flaming Nora pictured above outside of the Rovers Return on a recent, very special trip to the Corrie set.

In second place was Hilda Ogden's flying ducks, with 10% of the vote.

In third place were the cobbles with 7% of the vote.

In fourth place was Elsie Tanner with 5% of the vote.

And in fifth place was Betty's hotpot, with 4% of the vote.

Blanche Hunt voted Coronation Street best battleaxe

Blanche Hunt has been voted Coronation Street fans' favourite battleaxe - past or present - in The Coronation Street Blog Oggies Awards 2010.

Blanche came first in the poll here on the Coronation Street blog with over half of the total vote, a whopping 51%.

In second place came Ena Sharples with 22%.

In joint third place came Annie Walker and Gail Platt with 4% of the vote.

And in fourth place was Vera Duckworth with 3%.

Tricky Dicky came first in the poll here on the Coronation Street blog with a whopping 38% of the vote.

In second place came Tony Gordon with 30% of the vote.

In third place came Alan Bradley with 10%.

In fourth place came Jez Quigley with 7%.

And in fifth place came Charlie Stubbs with 5% of the vote.

Tracy Barlow has been voted Coronation Street fans' best bitch - past or present - in The Coronation Street Blog Oggies Awards 2010.

Tracy Barlow trounched everyone else to come first in the poll with a whopping 41% of the vote here on the Coronation Street blog.

In joint second place there were three bitches - the evil cow Tanya Pooley, Carla Connor and Karen McDonald, all with 11%.

In third place came Rosie Webster with 6%.

And in fourth place came Elsie Tanner with 3%.

Results of The Oggies 2010 announced

The results, as they say on telly, have been verified and counted. And we'll be bringing the results to you, one day at a time, over the next two weeks.

Thanks to everyone who voted in The Oggies - the very first Coronation Street Blog Awards!

The Oggies Awards 2010 were open to fans to vote for ANYONE THEY WANTED TO in each of the categories. There were no restrictions on who anyone could vote for at all.

Votes came in from around the world as follows: UK - 42%, Canada - 26%, USA - 11%, New Zealand - 6%, All other countries - 1% each.

As we used free survey software we were limited to asking 10 questions in the poll. If anyone would like to sponsor next year's Coronation Street Blog Oggies Awards to allow us to use a full survey software package and have their sponsor details included in the awards, do please email me for more information.
