Coronation Street Episode Review Monday 13th July

Carla tells Lisa to calm down otherwise she'll have a breakdown and then who will solve Weatherfield's crimes? Certainly not D.S. McKinnon, not that anyone ever mentions her.

Maria sobs on the bench because her marriage is ending and also, Liam knows something is up. I mean, he's used to having a new dad every few years isn't he? Moreover, she knows Gary killed Tommy O's brother and I think she knows about the factory roof/Rana, so surely she is aware he has homicidal tendencies, right? Even though he's now the Gary who cried wolf.

Coronation Street - Kit Sarah - ITV

Kit finally proposes (and they're finally the same height as he drops to one knee) and Sarah finally fesses up. He is pretty angry, although it seems to be less that he's affianced to a murderess and more that she went to Gary for help rather than him. So is Kit going to cover up or dob her in? Does he know that she previously helped cover up a murder?

I was wondering if Betsy is really leaving for That London. Because the actress has dyed her hair, I thought she might be in a play or something, but I have read ahead and let's just say the teen domestic bliss does not continue. Does Betsy really not know how to cook a spag bolg? I know Lisa (and Becky before the whole faking her own death thing) treated her as as a little princess but to get to the age of 18 and not know how to cook a basic student dish is a bit pathetic. Anyway, she and Dylan promise to be togever fowever, but then there's some weird stuff with a close-up on a bayleaf.

Coronation Street - Bernie Cassie - ITV

Tyrone goes to play golf with his dad, despite his bad back and indeed the fact that he was in a wheelchair up to a few months ago. Call me sceptical but this Ross fellow's interest in Tyrone is spurious. He blames Cassie for depriving him of a son, but if Cassie was a sex worker, then how would she realistically know who the father was? And if she had known and contacted Ross and said "I'm pregnant with your child," would he really have embraced that twist of fate? Also Cassie was an underage sex worker, isn't Ross incredibly skeevy paying for sex with a 15 year old? And who did Ty think his dad was when he thought Margi Clarke was his ma? Wouldn't he have asked at some point?

Anyway, this is pedantic and somewhat prurient; I realise the point of the story is a) to create family tensions in the Stape-Dobbs-Plummer household (NB: Where is Dame Maureen? She would put Ross back in his box), b) to make us more sympathetic towards Cassie and c) to create obstacles between Cassie and Steve before an eventual end-of-summer wedding. Cassie tells Bernie about it without naming particulars.

And Joseph is late with his homework. Is this the end of Oakhill and the start of his Weathy High career?
