If you're wondering where you've seen Joanne beore, then wonder no more.

Joanne is played by actress Martha Cope.  Martha is the daughter of Coronation Street and Carry On film actor Kenneth Cope.

She is no stranger to soap, having been in Emmerdale and Eastenders before.  She's also appeared in very many TV shows including The Bill, Doctors, Casualty... well the list is pretty much endless.  You can view her CV here.

Kenneth Cope's daughter joins Coronation Street

Martha Cope joins Coronation Street for an appearance this Christmas.  The Radio Times listing for Christmas week on the Street shows that Martha plays the role of Joanne.

Martha Cope is the daughter of  Kenneth Cope, who played Jed Stone (aka Sunny Jim) on Corrie!  Her mother was also an actress called Renny Lister, who met Kenneth Cope when she worked in Coronation Street as character Jean Stark.

Kenneth Cope first appeared on Corrie as Jed Stone in 1961

Kenneth Cope returned to Coronation Street as Jed Stone in 2008 when Tony Gordon bought out the owners of the properties in Nightingale Terrance. Tony hoped to redevelop the area, but Jed refused to be moved and turned down Tony's compensation money.  He ended up getting into a tangle with Tony Gordon, who tried to kill him at Underworld and left him for dead in a hamper!
