Well, it's nearly Christmas Day, and today the official Coronation Street website has a video clip from 1961 when Ena Sharples choked on a sixpence in Minnie Caldwell's Christmas pudding.

They've also got a poll asking for your favourite Corrie Christmas moment from the various videos shown over the last month or so.

Today, they've got a video where some of the cast share their worst Christmas presents:

 

Simon Gregson (Steve McDonald) – “The worst present I ever got I think was a Transformers clock…I was about sixteen at the time.”

Jack P. Shepherd (David Platt) – “I did get my sister a present once for Christmas and it was a fat fairy sat on a fake diamante jewel – it was a paperweight! And this was £25 – a paperweight! I don’t know what went through my head to why my sister would like it. I gave it to her and I think she threw it at me!”

Catherine Tyldesley (Eva Price) – “It’s the same every year – it’s chocolate. Because I’m obsessed with chocolate and if it’s there I’m going to end up eating it.”

Ben Price (Nick Tilsley) – “An A4 refill pad which you put in a binder and it’s only got one hole and it was 10p and my mum got me that!”

 

What's the worst present you ever got?

 

Mine has to be a dart board, which I never used. I don't even like darts!

Today, they've got a video clip from Christmas Day 2002 where Emily, Norris, Rita, Audrey and Archie are having dinner together. Norris tries to set light to the Christmas pudding in the dark, but slips and falls and knocks his head and has to go to hospital.

Jane Danson (Leanne Tilsley): “Leanne, she’s trying to make Christmas be special but obviously Nick’s brain injury makes it unpredictable. Anything could happen. And that’s all I’m going to say!”

Simon Gregson (Steve McDonald): “As usual, Steve’s kind of got himself an admirer, a friend from college. Andrea shows up at the Rovers which annoys Michelle. There’s also a little something about a Christmas present which annoys Michelle. And then all the things happen which annoy Michelle! So annoying Michelle on Christmas Day!”

Chris Gascoyne (Peter Barlow): “Peter’s got himself into a slight situation at the moment and he’s carrying on with Christmas as if nothing’s happened. Unfortunately, it has.”

Michelle Keegan (Tina McIntyre): “What’s going to happen? Well, you’ll have to find out and keep on watching!”

Jane Danson (Leanne Tilsley) – “My favourite thing about Christmas is the whole build-up to it especially now as I’ve got children and going to see Father Christmas and the doing the whole Christmas carols and Christmas shopping and the fun things you do, especially with the kids at Christmas.”

Ben Price (Nick Tilsley) – “My favourite thing about Christmas is when it’s over! I’m not great at Christmas.”

Samia Smith (Maria Connor) – “My favourite thing now is probably my daughter’s face on Christmas morning when she realises that Santa’s been. She’s four now and she completely gets it and she gets so excited on Christmas Eve. So it’s probably’s Freya’s face. And also the Christmas markets around Manchester are amazing.”

Michelle Keegan (Tina McIntyre) – “Everyone in the family getting together, having a laugh, having a few drinks, watching Corrie of course and just being together at Christmas. That’s it, just having fun.”

What do you like about Christmas?

For me, it's the Christmas carols and services and the family getting together.

After being spared the chop by eco-warrior Toyah, Theresa the Turkey fell foul of Les' driving - when it wandered into the road in front of his car.

 

Waste not, want not - Theresa the roadkill turkey made it onto the Battersby's Christmas dinner menu, but not everyone was as thrilled as hungry Les."

From now until the big day, the ITV Coronation Street website is doing a daily Christmas countdown. Over the next few weeks, they'll be showing classic clips of and teasers and trivia about Corrie Christmases.

Today, some of the cast share their favourite presents of all time in a video special.

Catherine Tyldesley (Eva Price) – “The best Christmas present I got as a child was my first make-up set because I’m a bit of a drag queen!”

Brooke Vincent (Sophie Webster) – “That kitchen that every kid wanted, every girl wanted, where the doors used to open – it was dead good. That was my best present.”

Paula Lane (Kylie Platt) – “My first pair of inline rollerblades. I was never out of them and I spent the whole of Christmas on them.”

Simon Gregson (Steve McDonald) – “Big Track! Loved Big Track! Parents hated Big Track as it went round the front room hitting grandparents and all sorts of things.”

Michelle Keegan (Tina McIntyre) – “My granddad made me a doll’s house out of a cardboard box. I absolutely loved it and had it for about ten years until my mum threw it away.”

Samia Smith (Maria Connor) – “There was a game, when we were kids, called Lights Alive. Don’t know if you remember it. You put a black sheet of paper in and then you got these little shapes and you put them in and turned it on and it made a big neon shape. It was very 80s but it was very cool and I loved it.”

What's your favourite Christmas present?

I remember having a miniature farm where you built all the farm buildings (barn, stable, pig sty, chicken coop) and got about three fields made out of wood and then you put fences and gates around them. And then, along with the farm, you got all the animals like cows, sheep, horses, pigs, ducks, chickens, geese, sheepdog and a cat. It was great!

It really made you have an imagination, where you invented stories involving the animals. It's such a shame that these days children are sitting in front of a screen playing computer games.
