Video: Phelan and Eileen behind the scenes at Corrie's lighthouse shoot

Go behind the scenes in Coronation Street's lighthouse shoot which saw Pat Phelan fall to the foamy seas of Whitehaven in tonight's show.

ITV Corrie have an exclusive video which you can watch below.

I LOVED Pat Phelan's speech written by Owen Lloyd-Fox: "I am the darkness and the light, Eileen that's me. I'm a creator. I'm a destroyer. I'm the accuser and the prosecutor. I am the lord of hope and the layer in wait."

Watch it all below:

New Video: The making of Coronation Street 'Then, Now & Forever'

If you've not yet watched the new Coronation Street promo video Then, Now &  Forever please do, it's gorgeous. You can watch it here.

The short video recreates iconic scenes from Coronation Street's 57-year history and takes fans behind-the-scenes of how they would have been filmed

And now, we can go even further behind-the-scenes with a "how it was made" video too which you can watch below.

The iconic moments were recreated in part on the Coronation Street set as well as at Shepperton Studios, where Life of Mars and Endeavour art director Matt Gant dressed the sets to be as close to what the originals would have looked like as possible.

Costumes were created by Michelle May using archive photography and references from the soap’s archivist Helen Nugent.

Actors were cast as classic character lookalikes, rehearsing the scenes so that they synced perfectly to the actors who created the original scenes in the soap.

Review: Access Coronation Street with Lorraine Keane

On Friday 25 March, Corrie viewers in Ireland were treated to a behind the scenes look at their favourite show courtesy of UTV Ireland. In Access Coronation Street with Lorraine Keane, the Irish television presenter, broadcaster and journalist takes a tour of the set which includes interviews with those both in front of and behind the camera, and is accompanied by clips from the show.

While a rundown of the show's history and viewership offers context, the emphasis is very much on contemporary Corrie (the 2015 bus crash is the oldest clip I spotted). Shayne Ward fans will be glad to know he not only acts as tour guide, but is the focus for the first half of the 22 minute show, with other interviewees even giving their complementary takes on the singer and actor. This isn’t wholly surprising for a programme broadcast in Ireland considering both Shayne and his character Aidan's Irish family connections, and his strong Irish following in his X-Factor days and beyond, having charted highly in both the Irish album and single charts. He also travelled to Dublin in September of last year with Faye Brookes and Richard Hawley (Kate and Johnny Connor) for a UTV Ireland event which saw one Dublin pub transformed into the Rovers Return for a day.

Talking in the Platts about how much he loves being on Coronation Street and enjoys the challenge, Shayne and Lorraine playfully act out a recent scene between Aidan and Eva, He then confidently whisks her through some backstage areas. The highlights include glimpses of Liz McDonald's clothes rail, the trophy cabinet, the wall of fame and snapshots of the work of Costume Designer Tracey Cliffe, Art Director Andrew Hare, and Make-up Artist Kathy Ducker.

Lorraine is on set for two scenes; the first, which happens to be the first of the day, is Kate and Caz's hen party in the Rovers, and the second is one involving Maria and Luke outside the salon.

In her interview with producer Stuart Blackburn, it's interesting to hear he gets the bulk of his script reading done from as early as 4.30am in the morning so the rest of the day is free to deal with the myriad things that can arise. His lips are firmly sealed on future storylines however, and he admits he doesn’t even tell his own mother what’s coming up even though she loves the show. At the time of filming, he had started editing, in script form, episode 8912. I couldn't resist checking if this episode had since aired, and it transpires that the latest, Friday's second double which I reviewed, was numbered 8868, so this episode is some way off yet.

One of the highlights of the show is Lorraine's chat with Sue Nicholls in Roy's Rolls where she talks character Audrey's upmarket residence on Grasmere Drive, her relationship with Ken, what its like to pretend to be a hair dresser, and how lovely she finds it that people see her as Audrey and call her such in the supermarket. Ladylike and gentile with a twinkle in her eye, it is a delight when Lorraine thanks her and she reciprocates ardently before saying to camera with great sincerity “can I thank everybody back in your home for watching, we love you to pieces and thank you very much". Just when you thought she couldn't endear herself any further, a great little outtake-style scene appearing alongside the credits confirms what a diamond she is.

Over at the Rovers, Kym Marsh and Lorraine discuss her ten years on the show as Michelle, one of Lorraine's favourite characters. Both jump at the idea of taking Corrie to Dublin, but Kym insists that Lorraine would have to agree to being an honorary Connor; she'd certainly look the part.

Lorraine interviews Catherine Tyldesley on the cobbles about being constantly made-up and glamorous, and the fun of playing a feisty, funny, sometimes bitchy, character, while Michael Le Vell talks of his love of working on the show 33 years on before being affectionately ribbed by Lorraine having admitted to not knowing an awful lot about being a car mechanic.

I very much enjoyed this nicely paced, good-humoured tour of the cobbles which left me wanting more; indeed, I would've liked for it to have been a little longer. Lorraine is the ideal presenter for a behind-the-scenes look at a programme which means so much to fans. Excited, enthusiastic and well informed throughout, she has a lovely knack of being at the centre of something without making it about her, and as such, viewers will undoubtedly have felt they were sharing with her what was clearly an enjoyable visit.

It is reported on the UTV Ireland website that Access Coronation Street with Lorraine Keane will reveal what's in store for the programme and grant an access-all-areas look at what goes on behind the cameras with interviewees including Shayne Ward, Sue Nicholls, Michael Le Vell, Kym Marsh and Catherine Tyldesley.

Exclusive: Behind-the-scenes visit to Coronation Street

Synchronicity is a wonderful thing.  I recently received a message to my personal twitter account wishing me a happy birthday. It came from @michaeladamsuk and he said he was a big fan of the Coronation Street Blog.  Immediately, my nephew's girlfriend joined in the conversation and it turns out that she is Michael's cousin! Michael had no idea of the family connection when he tweeted me and it's like we're all one big happy family now.

Anyway, Michael then went on to tell me he'd been invited in to see the Coronation Street set on a VIP visit and asked if I'd like a report and some pics after he'd been. Would I? Oh yes. Yes, yes, yes.

Michael has permission from ITV to share the pics and his report with the Coronation Street Blog. And so, with a million thanks to Michael for his write-up and for sharing his pictures, some of which I have included below.

And now, it's over to Michael...

"After a painfully long but exhilarating train journey from Durham, I had arrived in gritty Manchester. This time however, I knew that I wasn't just visiting Granada. And I was ridiculously excited. Rewinding to a few weeks previous, I somehow managed to get myself a tour of the new (can we still call it that?) Coronation Street set at MediaCityUK. Those weeks leading to August 27th dragged, and I was experiencing a vast amount of emotions, from excitement to nervousness.

1pm. 27th August.

I was stood not just outside the studios, but outside Weatherfield General. Liz McDonald was sat in a smoking shelter having a tab break, and I could see D&S Alahan's across the road. It was like stepping into the telly. But before I could start to imagine some sort of scenario where I woke up in a fictional Mancunian town, I was whisked past Beverley Callard and signed in, along a corridor and swiftly into the studio.

I was stood in front of the living rooms of the much-loved characters that we tuned into see five times a week. The Kabin, corner shop, salon and Rovers were all before me. It was a magical feeling, something that I'll never forget.

Onto the exterior set, I was told to be quiet whilst taking photos as they were filming inside of Underworld. I enquired about which other sets are on the exterior set, and was guided into Rosamund Street Medical Centre and shown around the children's ward at Weatherfield General, which is currently being used for Hope's cancer storyline. I was also shown in Prima Doner and Streetcars, though the latter has been moved back into the studio for convenience. Through the community centre, I was guided upstairs and into Cathy's living room, and the prison cell where Peter Barlow spent a good few months on. We also went into Webster's Autocentre, and Jason's construction site, and I was given a sneak preview of the new look Platt's house, though that's still top secret for the next few weeks!

From here, I was shown through a prop store and admired the ridiculous amounts of suitcases, and down to the staff canteen for a cuppa. This may sound like the most dullest part of my entire visit, though it was livened up by the fact that I was sitting in the same room as Marc Anwar and William Roache, aka Sharif Nazir and THE Ken Barlow!

Later in the day I was shown around the interior sets, and got to watch scenes filmed in the Rovers back room and toilets with Steve (Simon Gregson), Liz (Beverley Callard), Tony (Terrance Maynard), the gorgeous Michelle (Kym Marsh) and the equally as gorgeous Rover the dog! I also watched scenes with Ken, Roy, Audrey, Cathy and Nessa (Cathy's sister) in no.1 and Roy's Rolls.

To be honest, I didn't want to leave and I even considered setting up camp in the ginnel. But after four and a half hours, I left Coronation Street with some of the best memories of my life, that will be treasured forever.
