Mark's Mobile Butchers has Coronation Street stars Steve Arnold (Ashley Peacock) and Andy Whyment (Kirk Sutherland) in Bristol this Saturday! They'll gladly pose for selfies as well as sell you some nice fresh steak, I say, they'll serve you up a treat.
Also - I've been told that even though the poster above says that the lads will be at Yates shopping centre from 11am to 2pm, they do actually begin their stint on the butcher stall at 10am (not 11).
Andy Whyment (Kirk Sutherland) and Steven Arnold (Ashley Peacock) will be appearing at Real Meat Nechelles in Ashton on Saturday 27th January 2018.
You can have an, er, meat and great with the Corrie boys from 10am to 1pm. There'll be a competition to win a free £100 Meat Hamper and a FREE LUNCH with Kirk and Ashley from Coronation Street!
But don't just take our word for it, here's Steven Arnold himself to give you all the details.
Steven Arnold, who played Ashley Peacock in Coronation Street, is starring in a new comedy feature film called The Blazing Cannons.
Made by Happy Pup Films, The Blazing Cannons is due for UK and US release early next year and follows the story of two cops on the hunt for a serial killer. However the cops have an unhealthy obsession with 1970s TV shows. The duo also have a reputation for coming down hard on the bad boys.
Steven's character Ashley Peacock was killed off in Corrie back in 2010 when the tram crashed off the viaduct as part of Corrie's 50th anniversary live episode. Ashley died helping his friends Nick Tilsley and Peter Barlow escape, with the viaduct collapsing and crushing him to death.
There's a Youtube video here showing some of Ashley's best bits... enjoy!
Steven Arnold, best known for playing Ashley Peacock in Coronation Street, is starring as Charlie Chaplin’s brother in this heart-warming and hilarious musical about the first true British icon of Cinema.
Steven is joined onstage by Nicole Faraday (Bad Girls / Emmerdale), Helena Gullan (‘Once’- London’s West End) and a cast of six West End actor-musicians who play over 20 instruments live onstage!
This powerful musical tale weaves through Chaplin’s modest and troubled childhood growing up in the gutters of Victorian London. It focuses on Chaplin’s relationship with his mother who, after being admitted to an asylum, was forced to put her sons into the workhouse. It moves through Chaplin’s early showbiz career on the Vaudeville stage, through the primitive years of early Hollywood and finishes with Chaplin discovering his big breakthrough film which made him a household name - ‘The Kid’. An untold story too fascinating to miss.
The creative team include the multi-award winning writer Stuart Price and No1 hit-single writer Jake Field as composer.
The musical is going on tour during June and July and the list of tour dates is here.
We're running a very special competition for two lucky Coronation Street Blog readers to to win a pair of tickets each to the show of their choice. Enter here!
In this week's awards, I mentioned the Darth Vader Effect relating to Johnny discovering he is Carla's biological father. She'll find out soon enough. This isn't the first time it's happened on Coronation Street and is a fairly standard soap plot that rears its head every so often.
On Coronation Street, Mike Baldwin is the king of the Darth Vader effect, with all three of his sons discovering who their biological father was and Mike knowing about only one of them. Most often it's the fathers who discover previously unknown children because mothers know they've given birth. It's hard to keep that fact from them though if a baby was switched in the hospital, they may not realise the child they raise is their own. But let's not get into that!
Other typical soap scenarios include an older sister or aunt who is really the biological mother of a younger sibling/nephew/niece, or a close relative who is the biological parent, usually father, of someone. We've had the latter in Fred Elliott with his son Ashley but I'm not sure we've had the former situation.
Curly Watts discovered a daughter, Ken Barlow discovered a son (and grandson), Leanne found her mother. For more detail on all of these, and more, see State of the Street.
Can you think of any others I might have missed?

Did anyone see ‘The Nation's Favourite Beatles Number One’
the other week? If not, then I would highly recommend streaming it from the
newly renamed ITV Hub,
where it will remain for another 6 days (link here).
I watched it on the train to Manchester for the Coronation
Street Blog Christmas Do. It’s a cracking rock doc and I was particularly
pleased to discover that when The Beatles weren’t busy shaking the world, the Fab
Four liked nothing more than to watch a bit of telly and, according to former
Granada Producer Johnny Hamp, Coronation Street was one of their favourite
programmes.
Hamp produced the TV special ‘The Music of Lennon and McCartney’,
which was filmed at the former Granada Studios on Quay Street, a site that we
bloggers visited earlier this week for the very last time.
The Beatles show went out in December 1965 - when Corrie was
just five years old. A lot of it can be seen on YouTube and it really is
fascinating footage. During the performance, John Lennon played the harmonium
on ‘We Can Work It Out’ (which came in at number 17 in the ITV poll).
But it wasn’t just any harmonium that Lennon used that day
at Granada. Oh no - it was the very same instrument that Ena Sharples played in
Coronation Street! Have a look at this:
Apparently, when the Granada special was being recorded, the
Corrie cast kept on sticking their heads around the door to catch a glimpse of
The Beatles. The cast could have got a lot closer to the band, though,
according to a wonderful article I stumbled across on a Beatles fansite (available here).
The story goes that there was a proposed plot which would
have seen The Beatles’ tour bus break down in Weatherfield while the band were
on their way to a gig in Manchester.
Naturally, Beatlemania would soon take over and with the
police unable to control the crowds, the band would knock on Ena's door in
search of sanctuary (and possibly a harmonium?!!). Ena would take them in and the Fab Four would file in past
her, bringing the episode to a close.
In the next episode, Ena would persuade The Beatles to
perform at the Over-Sixties club. The gig would be gate-crashed by a load of
teenagers and two generations would come together for an amazing concert, after
which The Beatles would rush off to their other show in Manchester!
The Beatles were apparently very keen to do it but weren’t
able to fit the rehearsal dates into their schedule and so the plans were
scrapped. What a shame!
I like to think, though, that in the parallel universe of
Coronation Street, The Beatles did in fact play Weatherfield in the 60s.
Perhaps that would explain the signed Beatles programme that the Peacocks found
in the attic of Number 13 a few years ago!
When I arrived at Manchester Piccadilly to catch my 7am
train back to London, everything came full circle when I saw an advert for a
new collection of The Beatles’ chart-topping hits.
It made me think about the vital contribution that Coronation
Street and The Beatles – two great institutions that emerged from 1960s Northern
England – have made to the UK’s cultural history.
And then I thought about the original Cavern Club in
Liverpool, which was knocked down. It was a decision that city leaders would
soon regret and the Cavern was later rebuilt using many of the original bricks.
I don’t want Manchester to make the same mistake by
demolishing the old Corrie set. Wouldn’t it be great if the
developers decided to keep at least some of the magic alive?
Coronation Street is in our ears and in our eyes. It is also in our hearts. There is so much
history in those cobbles and it would be a tragedy for it all to be bulldozed for
flats and shops.
If you're wondering what happened to Ashley and Sunita from Coronation Street, the actors who played them both are featuring in a video for Gala Bingo to win a VIP visit to the Coronation Street set

If you remember, last year I had a series of posts looking at the top 12 faces of each Corrie decade - the 1960s, the 1970s, the 1980s, the 1990s and the 2000s. For the next few weeks or so, I’ll be looking at the top 12 faces of each year between 1960 and 2013.
Note: To date, this is the last time Rita makes an appearance in the top 12 after 20 years. This is the only time Ashley and Maxine make an appearance in the top 12
10. Ashley Peacock and Claire Casey/Peacock 2003-2010 (137 votes)
After first wife Maxine was murdered by Richard Hillman in January 2003, Ashley struggled to raise her son Joshua and so hired a nanny called Claire Casey. They fell in love and they married on Christmas Day 2004. On their first anniversary, Claire told Ashley that she was pregnant and Thomas was born in July 2006. When Ashley’s dad Fred Elliott died in October 2006, Claire wished to change his name to Freddie in honour of his granddad.
During their six year marriage, the Peacocks have had their fair share of drama, from Claire’s post natal depression, Freddie being kidnapped by disturbed Casey Carswell who also tried to kill Claire and manipulate Ashley by having an affair with him. While Ashley has continued his father’s empire at the butchers shop, Claire has had various jobs, ranging from a bus driver, a helpline worker and currently works on the switch at Street Cars. As well as dramas, Ashley and Claire have starred in comic storylines that include a house swap with the Websters in 2008 and Claire forcing Ashley to have a vasectomy in 2009. In 2010, they planned to move to France but tragedy struck when Ashley was trapped in the bistro when the tram crashed into the street. The building collapsed and Ashley died. Claire and the children then left for France after Claire anonymously attacked Tracy Barlow in revenge of her abusing Ashley’s good name.
Were you fans of Ashley and Claire? Should they be in the top 10?
32. Dev Alahan and Sunita Parekh/Alahan, 2004-2006, 2010-2013 (46 votes)
Sunita Parekh was an employee at one of Dev’s seven shops, after she fled from her arranged marriage in India. Soon enough, Dev hired her as an assistant at the corner shop and she moved into the flat. Sunita dated Ciaran McCarthy and planned to marry, but they didn’t. Dev, meanwhile, was dating lawyer Maya Sharma. Soon enough, Dev found Sunita behaving oddly and when she collapsed in the shop it was revealed that she had a brain tumour. Dev later proclaimed love to Sunita and dumped Maya who was not pleased. Dev and Sunita got married in 2004.
Maya appeared again, wanting revenge. She framed Sunita for bigamy and Sunita was sent to jail for a while. Dev sorted things out and Maya was arrested but freed. Her next step was burning Dev’s shops, keeping Dev and Sunita hostage in the flat and then setting fire to it. They were saved and Maya then tried to run them over. She crashed into a lorry and was sent to a hospital. The Alahans settled to marital life and twins Aadi and Asha were born in 2006. The marriage ended when Sunita found out that Dev had fathered children from his shop assistants and divorced him.
They reunited in 2010 when Dev found out Sunita was back in the area. But, in 2012, a bored Sunita had an affair with Karl Munro and Dev moved out. But after a few months, Sunita realised that she’d made a mistake and she reunited with Dev. But the reunion didn’t last long as Sunita caught Karl starting a fire in the Rovers and he pushed her down the cellar steps into the flames. Although she’d survived the fire, Karl finished her off in the hospital by dislodging her life support tube.
Were you a fan of Dev and Sunita? Should they be at 32?
31. Ashley Peacock and Maxine Heavey/Peacock, 1997, 1999-2003 (51 votes)
Although they were a mismatched couple, it was a popular one. After dating him and then moving in with him, Maxine married Ashley in 1999, seeking security more than ever. The marriage was troubled from the start with Maxine accusing Ashley of having an affair and Maxine having trouble getting pregnant by Ashley. When he was in surgery sorting the problem, Maxine drunkenly slept with local GP Matt Ramsden and fell pregnant. Joshua was born in 2001. Although he was angered that Matt was the father, Ashley vowed to forget about the subject and continued to live a happy life with his wife and baby.
By 2003, the Peacocks were happy but it was all going to end tragically. Maxine was murdered by Richard Hillman. He hadn’t intended to kill her though. His intended victim was Emily Bishop who was babysitting for the Peacocks. After bludgeoning Emily, Richard was disturbed by Maxine, who’d popped home to check on Emily and Joshua. While Maxine attempted to escape, Richard bludgeoned her as well. Emily survived the attack. At 26, Ashley was a widower and a single father.
Were you a fan of Ashley and Maxine? Should they be at 31?
