The Express reports today that Coronation Street actress Barbara Ferris has died at the age of 85. Barbara Ferris first appeared on the cobbles as barmaid Nona Willis back in 1961, embarking on a career that spanned several decades.

She died on May 23, and her cause of death is yet to be confirmed. Barbara's tenure on Coronation Street was brief; she played Nona for just 10 episodes before leaving the show, confessing that mastering the Lancastrian accent proved too challenging.
